Reread post #2 right above your post.

S o let me get this straight. You like the 5 TE's thing and think we are better off on the DLine than the Giants? Am I accurate here because in you last two posts that the way it sounds and if that's true, I couldn't agree with you less. Actually it's kind of out there if that's what your saying.

Ok, but like I said I wish Dallas did that, obviously that formula has been better then our "secret sauce"
Actually if Dallas did that, everybody would complain about how we neglect every position but the DLine. Everybody talks about the trenches, but if that was the front office's strategy, we'd be moaning about the skill positions. You can't please everyone. The OLine has been addressed in recent years (although most still complain it's not enough). The DLine will be addressed in future drafts, maybe the OLine too. I guarantee you this board will still blowup with strife over the team philosophy.

Agreed.

And I'm not sold that JPP will still be JPP after his back surgery.

Back surgery for a herniated disk isn't a small deal. And for him at his age to already be popping disks isn't a good sign.

I envy the Giants in their overall numbers... not in their quality.

And once you get away from their defense front, the rest of the defense looks pretty vulnerable.

I'll keep the Cowboy defense thank you very much!

I can speak from experience that there is a very good chance he will never be the same guy he was before he injured his back. I have had two different surgeries on two different disc over the years and I am no where close to being the man I used to be and I don't tussle with 300 lbs. plus tackles for a living.

But it would help in the W/L column... They would stop the whining after that

Agreed.

If that was Ware with the herniated disk surgery I'd be very, very concerned not just about his football productivity but future health overall.

Many think that JPP will be right as rain... I just don't think so.

I agree overall in premise with the OP. The difference between the Giants and Cowboys is that the Giants put a lot of emphasis on their defensive line, and for good reason. Outside of the quarterback, the Defensive line is probably the most important unit on the team. It's the only other unit that can completely take over a game with the least amount of help from other players.

That said, this year is not a good year to point that out. Outside of Jason Pierre-Paul they're not that impressive. Moore is a promising young guy, but he probably won't be up to speed for at least a year. The rest are just names that are now below average players.

But this isn't the game changing defensive line it used to be... I'm surprised no one's pointed out that Giants allowed more rushing yards per attempt than Dallas last year and had fewer sacks as well... granted both categories were pretty damn even.

There are far better defensive lines in the NFL right now than the New York Giants. Carolina. St. Louis. Cincy. Seattle.

They've gained a few players, but they've also lost the one guy that actually made the most difference in their playoff run, Osi Umenyiora. Many forget that JPP didn't register a single sack during that playoff run that saw inept offenses.

No doubt, the Giants have better depth that Dallas on the d-line.

I'm not sure they have a clear advantage in any other position group though.
The rest would all be debatable, some close and some not so close.

They still have an advantage on kicking teams (not PK) and head coach though.

Oline is a wash
QB is a wash, IMO. I won't argue either way though.
RBs: Wilson may end up great, but with Brown out, Dallas has a slight lead.
WRs: very close
TEs go to Dallas
LBs go to Dallas
CBs go to Dallas
Safeties maybe to NY until proven otherwise
Dline overall to NY
STs overall to NY?
Head coaching to NY
