One of my best friends is dying and I'm a mess

I guess all of my posts lately are sad but today has opened my eyes. One of my best friends ever just got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. It's in his lungs and his bones so he is obviously not going to make it. He was actually one of my older brother's best friends but he lived next door and what just a protector of me. Always treated me with respect and was probably the best person I've ever known. I don't even know the point of my post but you guys have a way of making me feel better about the **** that comes our way. Sorry if this is out of line.

I just went through the same thing a year and a half ago. The best thing for me was to let him know I was there for him, and then afterward, remember all the good times.

Keep your head up and think about how he'd want you to act and feel. Remember him for the good dude that he was and remember the good times.

Make sure he knows it's affecting you, but try not to make him more down than he is.

Years ago, a friend of a friend was dying from cancer. Got invited to something where she was. I was told unequivocally by the gal w/ cancer that she wanted me to be my usual clown self and make her laugh.

Mostly, the people in dire straits don't want you to be down and solemn.

Well, this is a "time on earth" thing Liotta. If you are lucky enough to last a few turns around this old Sun, you get to this point. You lose somebody that you don't want to or don't deserve to. It's the unfortunate part of life I guess.

I have watched someone close die from lung cancer, it isn’t pretty. If your friend can still get out and about, ask him to make a local bucket list and try to knock a few out. That is what we did with my best friends mom and she loved it and took her mind off things.

Great advice man. You guys and I mean all of you are truly amazing. I'm not into the bickering about the team but when I ask for help, you are all there. I truly appreciate it.

One cool thing about him is he's been doing that for years to the point that I'm jealous I'm going to ask if he has a few left on his list. I appreciate the comment man. I really do.
