How do we know that Garrett's playbook is actually Garrett's? They could call it that when it could be Jerry's.

After last season was over the Joneses gave Linehan Full control over the offense. He was free to use his own playbook/scheme.

If they hire an outside OC he will not be tied to Garrett's scheme.
Do you have the link to that article? Somehow I missed that one.

In your opinion, What was Dak’s weakness that warrented the playcalling under Linehan?
Throwing to the back shoulder and deep fade, timing routes where the ball is thrown before the receiver makes his cut and in the Redzone is limited with many routes because receivers are so tightly covered.

I’m not sure we can run a NFL pro set package with Dak? He struggles making all the throws consistently.

Most likely play calling is limited with Our qb weaknesses. I wasn’t attached to Linehan but he’s just another casualty with the Dak attack.

That is a cop out, you can just as easily say the current play caller didn't cater his play calls to fit Dak's strengths. Instead it seemed to highlight his weaknesses instead.

Two examples: A QB who is good on the run, yet we rarely run roll outs. Went games in a row without using any option running plays to use his legs.

Running QB’s can’t make a living in the NFL. If that’s Daks strength it’s a recipe for failure over time.

Why are we so attached to Dak? Because of his Rookie season? I just don’t get it. He’s average passing QB at best.

We really shouldn’t let our emotions and feelings drive our business decision.

I'm not sure anybody is attached to Dak but what are the alternatives , no 1st rnd pick , the Fa market isn't any better. Maybe we can trade for Brady , Brees , Rodgers?
It's not an easy or sure fire thing to find a QB1 by any means. Apparently the FO thinks they can win with Dak and he is improving.

The first objective is to admit and address there’s a problem or issue. Extending your QB before his Rookie contract is up is not doing that.

There’s several options available to us after his Rookie contract is fulfilled and we haven’t seen progress in his passing abilities.

I’d begin selecting another QB in draft. We could use a more talented prospet as a backup anyway. Maybe pursue a veteran backup. But it doesn’t have to be in 1st or 2nd round .

I’d still like to ink Dak as our backup. We finally found a backup we can win with. But there will be talent in 1st and early rounds in 2020. We don’t have to make a decision or commit this year but we seem awfully anxious to me. Maybe he can develop further as doubtful as I am but he certainly deserves the opportunity.

But in Cap era I’d treat him as I would other average athletes at their position. We can probably find someone better or at least as good in the draft who will be much cheaper.

This notion we won’t or can’t find another 16th to 20th ranked QB to run this offense is laughable.

And I’m not convinced Jerry isn’t trying to prove he’s right about Dak. His agendas are usually suspect.

You haven't progressed any if you get the "same" but different QB. What makes you think we can find a late round QB that can play at the same level. Might be a step backwards. When Goff and Wentz were selected the Cowboys weren't in the market for a QB. they had Romo. Since then the draft slot has been too high and too much draft capital would have to be spent to move up. Probably 8 core players we wouldn't have.

QB's make money....all of them. I have no problem letting Dak play out his rookie deal but if he does well then they are drafting late again and would have to sell the farm to move up again in 2020. When we move from Dak I want a difference maker , not a stat monger but someone who will put this team over the top.Paying another average QB the market value makes no since to me. Either pay Dak or swing for the fences in the draft is what I'd do. What Jerry does is anybody's guess.

Too me this isn't quite the cut and dry situation many make it to be.

I know what Jerry’s going to do. He’s intent on proving Dak is his guy for cutting Romo loose.

But even if we didn’t do any better than Dak in draft we’d save tens of millions which we could use.

I would agree I’d keep swinging for the fences until we hit.

Not sure how many times you could swing for the fences and still field a team. Most teams don't have to move up to take multiple QB's in multiple years they just plain suck for a while and strike out a lot.

If you move up you'd better be 100% sure that guy is a franchise QB. I'm reserving any comment on the Dak deal until after it's done because I don't have a clue what the deal will be.
Might end up being team friendly...who knows. He might play lights out next year...who knows?

Dak didn't win the Rams game but he single handily didn't loose it either. This team may be close as is with a better scoring offense. If it were me I'd let next year decide Dak and Garrett's fate. Let them both play out their deals. If both are looking good mid to late season then talk extension.
