One week out and Golden is becoming the chalk pick for the Cowboys

I am on the record many times that they like both Mykel Williams and Shemar stewart, it's just a question of whether those 2 are higher than Golden
I could see that very easily. I don't know if I would take either at 12 (especially SS). I think if it is a DE then J Walker is very much in play as well, if available. He could be the pick because he helps 2 positions of need, DE and LB. That should help free up MP and let them both free lance a bit.

But TBH, with so many holes, I don't think they can go wrong with almost any position.

i am assuming Jalon Walker goes early, everybody wants the next Micah.

So many people say that Dak is an inaccurate passer so what you need is a guy with a huge catch radius and incredible hands. That describes Tet to a T if he is there and we take a wide receiver it should be a no-brainer. Dallas historically has been one of the worst teams at utilizing speed receivers, for whatever reason we do best with the Strong guy that can come down with contested balls.
This couldnt be further from the truth. Dak needs receivers that separate. I cant even count how many times Ive seen his supporters post those graphs of receivers and separation this year when he was playing poorly. Its why Dez didnt last here long once Dak took over and his stats improved once Amari Cooper came here.

Honest question- If Golden ran a 4.42 40 at the combine would he be in consideration at pick #12?
Hell to the NO!

Keep in mind, this is the prediction – not what they should do. Just curious, do the same guys say if Tet is off the board by then? If he’s not, this is just like Belichick thinking he’s smarter than everyone else by taking Cole Strange in the first round, or just a classic case of being full of Texas.

Don’t overthink it. Tet’s only the 3rd power conference player to have consecutive 1,300+ yards receiving in almost 20 seasons. Two consecutive 80+ catch seasons at over 15 yds./catch (career 16.4). A 6’4” nationally decorated volleyball player (Flyin’ Hawaiian) with 10” mitts that can ambidextrously make one-handed snags of errant throws. Not easily pressed and the play is NOT over once he catches the ball. Watch the tape.

Or…you could take the 5’11” guy that hasn’t mustered a single 1,000-yard season while just posting his career season high in catches with 58 and has managed a career yds./catch of 14.3. Wait…16.4 vs. 14.3, yet Golden supposedly plays with blinding speed. Or does he? Scouts, and people under your own roof in Dallas (Broaddus & Belt), have suggested that Golden’s on-field speed more closely resembles a 4.40 forty (no shame in that). Don’t believe me, do your research, the comments are there. One more fun tidbit for measurable peeps – the dudes arm length measures in at the 24% against compared to other WR’s. T-Rex arms at 5’11”. Hope Dak’s accuracy has tightened up along with that new physique.

You don’t want to buy anything in the last couple paragraphs, I get it, you’re dug in. Can your opinion be swayed by big board rankings put together by people that do this for a living and not us blowhards talking out our butts? I could go on ad nauseam, but I’ll stick with two agencies that seem to make people hot. All Scout’s has Golden @ 24.9 with their overall rank and they have Tet @ 11.7. And everyone’s darling, PFF, has a big board rank of 22 for Golden, calling him, “a player who could be a high-end WR2 in the league”. Nice. PFF has Tet @ 3 on the big board, stating, “All-Pro potential because of his length, athleticism, and football intelligence.” Wow.

The last time I checked, there’s not a game on the schedule that will be contested with the players wearing spandex shorts and track shoes while guaranteed that they can run uninhibited for forty yards. The whole notion that track guys running fast times translates into sure-fire FOOTBALL separation is nonsense embraced by those that don't fully appreciate the nuances of the game. If Tet’s there, and the Cowboys opt for Golden, the noise Texas residents hear coming from the northeast will be the sound of laughter coming from the Philly faithful. However, drop back in the neighborhood of the twenties and take Golden and picks and I think that's a winner.

Dak has always worked well with a balanced offense, you are right, he isn't a type who can read defenses well enough.
You might wanna draft Tyler Warren and then trade up at end of round 1 for your top running back and try to rebuild dak back up ya know?

On ESPN a couple of days ago, DJ said all he is hearing from his sources is an O-lineman, or possibly a DE, to the Cowboys at 12.
He said on the show that he wants them to stop being boring and go for a splash pick like a WR but it's probably not going to happen.
More resources on the DE when you just spent 2nd rounders on Williams and Kneeland!!!

No, what you need is a strong run game and a stellar defense. Limit Dak to 15 passes a game.

You dont give him more assets to waste.

Teams that know what they’re doing probably didn’t move him much. He was a fringe 1st / 2nd rounder before and he should be now. He doesn’t play to the timed speed.

But Jerry was probably doing cartwheels when he saw the time thinking about drafting a Texas boy at 12.

DE is always a need and teams will always spend valuable resources there. We are in need of an upgrade at the least. We just lost 2 good run defending DE's. Who's replacing them?

Kneeland is a promising second year player, but not proven by any means.
Williams is disruptive in the passing game, but can't set an edge well and is coming off yet another season ending injury, and when will he be back to 100%?
Fowler is also more of a pass rusher than run defender and only on a 1 year deal.
Turner is a vet that is more of a run defender but TBH, he's JAG.
The rest are camp bodies and PS guys.

Taking a stud DE will go a long way to fixing this defense and helping MP.

Smoke screen, hopefully.

Dallas should consider all the offensive weapons Texas had before they do this.

McMillan and Warren are better choices.

Prolly not.

They're gonna burn their 1st round pick on a 3rd round player if this happens.

So, the Eagles have fast receivers? Someone else was pointing this out in another thread.

It's not always about speed.
The Eagles have an all star team. Davonte was a Hiesman trophy winner. They have the best running back in the league along with the best offensive line. Davonte and Barkley have speed.

Hampton would be a smarter pick than Golden for the reasons you just said. Tolbert is improving.

Golden just isn't worth 12, imho.
