You know... he's started for this team before (and without other injuries making it so) and only lost his place because of injury under MM.
I think a lot of people forget this.

I think if you are down to Bohanna and Hill, you likely have to keep Hill. The upside with him is greater than Bohanna. So you bank on the kid with the bigger upside, even if it's a long shot he'll develop.

But as said, if Hill just is a dog in camp, he's a prime candidate to be cut.

I lean the opposite way. Bohanna and Ridgeway are both big-bodied run-stoppers. Hill is more of a 3-tech type and not much of a run-stopper so he's competing against Gallimore and Odighizuwa, who both are ahead of him. If it's close, I'd go with the NT because Watkins, who can play NT, 5-tech and 3-tech is on a one-year deal.

Of course, I think it's possible that both are gone, especially if we consider Golston more of an inside player/5-tech, which I think we might since we've got Lawrence, Armstrong, Fowler, Williams and Basham at DE. Can't see us keeping more than 10 OL. (My five DTs are Odig, Gallimore, Watkins, Golston and Ridgeway.)

If the staff was so sure that Hill was going to bust, or that Bohanna or Ridgeway couldn't make it, they would have already signed Suh.

I would like to have Suh, if it was even two years ago. But he's like 35 now, and there's much more upside involved in developing one of our younger players.

So, I hope they all dig down deep and find whatever it is inside of them to make the team. At the end of the day, that's what this will come down to, which player finds the heart, dedication, etcetera, to take a roster spot.

I’ve always liked gallimore but I need to see more consistency OSA showed flashes as did Hill but I’m losing patience with him

I see very little with Bohana and Ridgeway has some edge to him but I know very little bout him and the only advantage he has that I’m aware of is he’s an Arkansas guy and will have Jerry’s support regardless of performance

Many believe Hill's spot is in trouble, but I believe it's 1 out of these 3: Basham, Bohanna or Watkins.

Such a glaring and significant hole on this Cowboys team. Everybody wanting Debo or other playmakers but this team has been and still is desperate for a stud DT. If I was going to spend huge money on this team it wouldn't be a WR or anything else. THIS TEAM NEEDS A STUD DT in the worst way!

They have 16 men currently listed, they will probably keep 10 total. I'd say the bolded are the locks. I think the 6 guys in red are fighting for one of 4 spots. The guys in blue are just camp/PS bodies praying for a miracle.

Watkins is the vet and IMHO, that currently gives him the advantage over the others. He's listed as a (305#) DE, but plays the 1. He gives you solid NFL level play and can play inside or out. I think the FO is happy to have him, but is really hoping that one of these kids can push him off the roster.

I'm not a big fan of Trysten Hill, but I have heard some early praise coming out of Dallas for him so far this offseason. He did OK at the tail end of last season. Maybe he's finally making that jump, maybe that's because he knows he's on the chopping block. It's also a contract year so he may surprise some this year. If he takes that step forward, I'd be ok with resigning him, but I hope they don't over react (and over pay) as usual. He could regress just as quickly.

Bohanna is a huge 1T run stuffer and nothing more, but can he be so effective at it that they must keep him? Big Mike has always liked those type of guys so he will get the chance to prove he can do it. I want him to succeed, but I have my doubts.

Ridgeway is gritty, nasty type of player that they specifically went after this year. He's a fighter and make no mistake, he's here to push Hill and Bo, or replace them. I think he's got a great shot to make the team.

Basham isn't great, but he is a better edge pass rusher than Golston. Golston brings some position flex to go inside in a pinch. But honestly, Watkins and Odigy could slide outside in a pinch just the same. Regardless of how I, or you feel about him you have to ask yourself, is he better inside than any of the 3T's? I haven't seen anything that says yes to that, so why would they use him there? Is he better at edge rusher than any of the De's? Same answer and IMO, even the DT's who can flex out are at least on his level. So I think, unfortunately he's on very thin ice.

Watkins was our best 1-tech last year. So until someone beats him out, he's a starter, much like other just a body DTs have been over the years with us (Terrel McClain, Stephen Paea, Brian Price, Antwaun Woods). The last player we had at NT who wasn't just a body was Ratliff. We can certainly hope Ridgeway or Bohanna play anywhere close to the level Ratliff did, but I'm not expecting it.

Always the "maybe", but if there ever was a pressing time for the light to finally come on, that time is now for Hill.

Basham is your back up/replacement for D-Law, not Fowler. Armstrong is Fowler's back up. He's is far more suited for that role than Golston. I never said only keep 4 DE's, I have it as 5 and 5. Don't get me wrong I like Golston, but why keep him if he isn't as good a pass rusher as any of the DEs you have, just because he can slid inside, when the guys inside are better than him there?

Ridgeway isn't getting anything by default. I said I think he has a great shot at making the team over one or two between of Hill, Bo and Golston.

In 4 man fronts designed for run/pass balance, I'd expect Hill to be the starting 1T.
That's a sign of how little we've got in the interior dline.

Watkins is veteran insurance they're hoping gets beat out. If it's between Watkins and a young guy with years left on his contract, the young gets the push.
