Only 1 game back if the Cowboys win

The Cowboys don't deserve to make the playoffs they haven't beaten a good team all year and the two best teams they played blew them out.

Alright. I wasn't asking about how you would feel. I asked who you wanted to win the game. You won't answer the question.

Anyway, asks a Browns fan how losing games translates to a better future. They will tell you it doesn't work.

First, we're not the Browns. We have been to Super Bowls and have won several. Why are you comparing the Cowboys to the Browns?
Second, I know this may shock you, but not all questions have "yes" or "no", right or wrong answers. Life isn't always black and white, either/or, cut and dry.
Sometimes, there are greys. When you're young, you don't understand this. When you get older and start to understand life, you're not as naïve.

I am a Cowboys fan, just like I am a father.
If my team isn't doing well, I'm willing to accept a lose if the greater good will be served by the loss, just as if I have a son who is going astray, I will risk him suffering the consequences of his actions if he will learn his lesson and become a better person.

So it is with the Cowboys. I'm a Cowboys fans. Of course, I want them to win all the time just as I want my son to excel all the time. But if they're not in the correct position to win, I would rather risk a loss if that loss is going to produce something better.

Again, life is always binary.

Possibly ready for the WC round, but not likely. Probably a go for the Division Rd. Should be a go by the NFC championship at the latest. Not only would we need Cassel to go undefeated the rest of the season, but then win at least one, maybe 2 playoff games. Season is done and people are clinging for some unexplained reason.

Why would it take that long to heal?

Worry about the draft after the season. Right now there are games to be played and won. Nothing but 100% effort will do. I think it's an absolute disgrace for any fan to hope their team loses regardless of the circumstances. There is no justification for that. None!

Go Cowboys!!!

Why would it take that long to heal?

Why wouldn't it? It took 8 weeks to heal last time. January 6th would make 6 weeks from the injury with the playoffs starting January 7th and 8th. 8 weeks out isn't until the NFC championship. All the local radio guys I've heard have been getting very similar timetables to the Division Rd or NFC championship Rd.

Maybe so but a hairline fracture should be healed before the end of the season although they might not use him. Go into week 17 needing a win over the Skins and look for him.

I am fine with two scenarios:

#1 - win out and/or make playoffs
#2 - lose out for a top pick

Don't want anything in between really.

Sadly the most likely outcome is something in between

Exactly...........this team has not won a single game without Romo since the stone age and all of a sudden Matt freaking Cassel is going to take us to the promised land?

Color me skeptical.

How many divisions have we won with Romo?

The last QB to win a game for the Cowboys not named Tony Romo was Stephen McGee.

Hopefully we lose out.

The thing is..

if we get a top 3 pick..

there is no guarantee whomever they draft will actually fix a given problem.

If it's a QB..I have no faith it would help as they would play Romo until he can't get up.

Years would go by before we see him.

Or they draft another DL and they rarely do anything the first couple of years..

Or they draft a RB and he gets submerged in 'the committee' thing.

So what is the point.?

Better to win now if possible.

The Dallas Cowboys do not tank seasons. And before anyone mentions it, the Cowboys did not tank the 89 season. Just because some personnel moves are made to help the future and just because it drew on the talent level didn't mean the Cowboys were deliberately losing, they played as hard as they could but the facts was they just weren't talented at the point.

What would be the point of tanking the 89 season? The Cowboys had already used the next draft's 1st round pick when they picked up Steve Walsh in the supplemental draft. They gained nothing by going 1-15 until the 2nd round.

This team today is talented but they were hit with the worst luck at injuries to their most elite players. When you combine that with the suspensions and a poor evaluation on their RB pool and mix in some close losses then you get a high probability of exactly what happened.

I don't see a single one of these coaches making any decision other than what is going to increase the odds of victory.

You make a team better by winning, not acquiring more talent. Of the 15 teams that had the first overall pick from 1995 to 2010, only three of them played in a Super Bowl within 8 years and most of them had nothing to do with the guy they drafted. Example: The 49ers drafting Alex Smith....the Rams drafting Orlando Pace. yes he made the team better but the real difference was an undrafted quarterback.

Having said that, I am equally opposed to the "what if...." scenario of winning out or coming on strong at the finish. The Cowboys are least likely to accomplish tat because thety have suffered the mostmid season changes an uncertainties. Eventually the Eagls are going to mesh, they are talented but under a new system. The Commanders made a quarterback commitment, the Giants are....the Giants.

Let's just start with a step in the right direction....a victory without Tony Romo finishing the game. Just beat the Commanders and let's not obsess on the circumstances. Somebody in the division is going to finish strong at the end of the season, the Cowboys need to show the can do that in a single game.

The Dallas Cowboys do not tank. if I ever thought they were that kind of a team then I would instantly drop them.

I can't believe this place is rooting for a loss and a high draft pick, if we win Monday Night we're only one game back!

How is it? Always look at the bright side of life? We win several games along the way and we could get into the playoffs walking backwards, I'll take that any day of the week.

Let's go Cassel be the great relief quarterback that you once were, set the table for Romo & co.

And lose to GB and be two games back at 4-9. Please stop this nonsense

Lol at all the people comparing the Browns drafting over the years to the situation the Cowboys would be in. Name the last good QB the Browns have had. Don't worry, I'll wait. The reality is, Romo will be back. The Cowboys franchise QB that the Browns have been missing for an eternity. Are you going to sit there and say if Rodgers, Brady or Roethlisberger went down for nearly the entire year that they wouldn't benefit from a top 5 pick, added to their franchise QB led roster the following season? This is nonsensical fan talk designed to keep yourself from rooting for a loss or being ok with a bunch of losses.

I hope the Cowboys lose the next 5 weeks and I hope they have the top pick. That will be more beneficial to the team over the next 5 years than some meaningless win against the Commanders. The goal is a SB win. Not to get pumped up about beating the Commanders and finishing with 5 wins. THAT is what being the Browns is like. Hoping to beat Pittsburgh in a crap season for the feelgoods.

Man my thoughts exactly! I live in Cleveland and I tell you everyone here is begging for a good QB. Also just because you have a down year and get a top 5 pick doesn't mean you'll be stuck there for years to come!!

Cowboys will probably win one more game at most and have a top ten pick. The only question is what to do with it?

And lose to GB and be two games back at 4-9. Please stop this nonsense

Not everyone has to agree with tanking, man. If the Cowboys win tomorrow, they will be one game back of first place. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. Look at the Panthers last year .. 3-8-1 and I'm pretty sure most of their fanbase was hoping they would tank and get a top-5 pick. They want on a four-game winning streak to end the season and even won a playoff game. Now look at them this season, they might go undefeated and go 16-0. You think their regretting winning out and going to playoffs instead of tanking and getting a top-five pick? No, they used that momentum from last season and went into this season with confidence and now their looking like Super Bowl favorites. So sorry buddy, but if some people want to still believe, win games and get into the playoffs, don't get upset and tell them to stop their nonsense. It's their opinion and you don't have to agree with it.
