Only 1 game back if the Cowboys win

Beast? Who do you want to win the game tomorrow night? Cowboys or Commanders?

I know you believe the game is meaningless. That's not what I'm asking.

Who do you want to win?

For the long term benefit of the team, it is best to lose tomorrow.........this is because I simply do not believe Matt Cassel is going to win games at Green Bay, at Buffalo, the Jets, and the Skins twice. To have have any reasonable chance to win the division, we would have to win 4 out of 5 games and try to win the division at 7-9.

Without Romo, I do not believe this is going to happen. This team had 7 tries to win a game without Romo and could not win one dam game, so I believe it is highly unlikely we are going to now win 4 out of 5.

Furthermore, I believe that Jerry and Steven will take a much harder look at the team and the organization as a whole if we end up with a top 5 pick. If this thing goes down to the wire and we come one game short of winning the division, I think Jerry and Steven will say that we almost made it and contribute it mostly to Romo being out. I think everybody would agree that this team has more problems than just missing Romo and maybe shaking up the coaching staff with some new assistants and looking at the schemes we are running are better for the long term health of this franchise than a meaningless win against the Skins.

Just my personal opinion, I am sure others will disagree.

How many divisions have we won with Romo?

I believe we have won the East 3 times under Romo and that has lead to 2 playoff wins.

2009 against Philly
2014 against Detroit.

How many games have we lost without him?...................since 2010..........ALL

The thing is, even if we beat the Commanders this week, we'll probably still lose the following week @ Green Bay, which means we would need all three of the other teams in our division to lose at least 2 out of their last 4 games... Dallas would also have to go at least 4-1 over these last 5 games, which would be shocking at this point...

Exactly............the math just doesn't add up..............losing 8 out of 9 games is just too big a hole to climb out of, if only we had won just one game without Romo.:(

leap-frogging three teams is darn near impossible. With that said, I am pulling for a win tomorrow but if we lose........then lose out the remaining games and lets call it a season.

That's the thing, its not just chasing one team but we are chasing all three teams in the division.

Like you said, its virtually impossible to leap frog all 3 or your division rivals in the last month of the season.

Why do guys keep talking about what this team will or will not do? They are facing the Deadskins tomorrow. You guys act like they are facing the Panthers or the Patriots. Its a very winnable game.

I imagine this is how a condemned man waiting on death row would feel after getting several stays of execution but knowing in your heart of hearts you’re going to get the chop in the end.

Not everyone has to agree with tanking, man. If the Cowboys win tomorrow, they will be one game back of first place. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. Look at the Panthers last year .. 3-8-1 and I'm pretty sure most of their fanbase was hoping they would tank and get a top-5 pick. They want on a four-game winning streak to end the season and even won a playoff game. Now look at them this season, they might go undefeated and go 16-0. You think their regretting winning out and going to playoffs instead of tanking and getting a top-five pick? No, they used that momentum from last season and went into this season with confidence and now their looking like Super Bowl favorites. So sorry buddy, but if some people want to still believe, win games and get into the playoffs, don't get upset and tell them to stop their nonsense. It's their opinion and you don't have to agree with it.

But cassel is the QB so it doesnt matter

What do you mean if? Put it in 3 inch headlines.

DALLAS WILL WIN TONIGHT

Honestly, if we had won ANY of the 7 games without Romo, I would take them at least a little more seriously, as they not only would be playing for fist place tonight, but they will have shown that there is a slight chance they can win without Romo and a Coach. 3-1 with Romo and without a coach is pretty amazing.

The thing is..

if we get a top 3 pick..

there is no guarantee whomever they draft will actually fix a given problem.

If it's a QB..I have no faith it would help as they would play Romo until he can't get up.

Years would go by before we see him.

Or they draft another DL and they rarely do anything the first couple of years..

Or they draft a RB and he gets submerged in 'the committee' thing.

So what is the point.?

Better to win now if possible.

I'm fine with all of that. Especially drafting a QB and waiting on them.

I don't see us winning out so I would rather lose out instead of winning 2 or 3 games and doing nothing but making our draft position worse.

Yep, could get interesting.

Lol it's craziness

Our division

5-6
5-7
5-7
3-8

Other teams: (including our division)

5 teams at 6-6
5 teams at 5-7
6 teams at 4-8
2 teams at 3-9
1 team at 3-8

Wallowing in mediocrity / misery.... Yet most of them are in contention by being on 2 games out or so....

Lol wow

I think a distinction needs to be made here.
When I say "tank", I don't expect the team to lay down and not play. I expect the Cowboys to go out and try to win.
I just don't think we'll win the division. And so I'm changing my expectation. Basically, I'm saying, "I don't believe you can do it so I'm preparing for the draft. Therefore, if you're going to lose, then I'll take solace in the fact that we get a higher draft choice."
