Thompson's speed isn't good enough reason to hang on. He can run a sweep, but not much else. he's poor on blitz pickup. If Pittman is more versatile I wouldn't care about his speed.

Pittman's poor on blitz pickup too. At least from what I watch in the pre-season. Pierre Thomas(rook) beat out Pittman because he actually picked up blitzes when in the game and had an obvious vision advantage when carrying the ball. Pittman looked very bad in the two Saints games I watched (games 2 n 3)

Pierre Thomas might be a diamond in the rough.

Atleast with Mosses and Davis, they probably needs a fresh start (which is sad for someone with less than 1 year experience). Since they where first day picks and couldn't make the roster, they probably have little chance with that organization.

Only that a fresh start is going to put them back a ways whereas staying with their current organization allows them to continue to develop in that organization's system. Obviously it differs if they hit an active roster somewhere but as PS players guys are almost always better staying put

You know the Thomas over Pittman issue shows that Payton is a bit of a chip off the old Parcells.

Contrast that to the guys we kept who didn't earn a spot that were taken even later than Pittman.

I just have a feeling that both organizations want nothing to do with them at this point (just a gut feeling). It's not like these guys were 5th or 6th round picks, I'd imagine if they showed any flashes, they would've been kept. Maybe Mosses would be better off playing OLB than DE, so maybe he'll sign with a 3-4 team, although the 49ers would get a shot at him first.

and I have a feeling that both organizations simply ignored draft status in their decisions - it isn't like these guys came in and were turds or anything.

TT is much improved in blitz pickup. He's a hard worker so, why not keep him around?
