Hey everyone... Isn't it Tom Landry...? I believe that the original poster may have misspelled the name. Not much of a Cowboys fan if you ask me.

Coach Parcells,

But at what cost did the defense come? Our drafts have been heavy on defensive ends and linebackers. We have ignored the offense for the most part, trading away our first round pick in 2004 when we desperately needed a running back. We sat watching the likes of Vinny Testaverde and Cocaine Carter as QB while we focused on molding the defense in your image. You know defense, I will give you that, but, your efforts on offense have not been spectacular. We have suffered through last year watching you play offense, "not to lose."
.

I agree and that's been my gripe....We're so heavy on defense, especially LBs, that the offense has suffered. The defense is built on young, fresh talent, while the offense is put together piece-meal, mostly consisting of aging veterns. The conservative style of offense is frustrating to watch and came back to bite us more than once. However,if Bill can turn around a team in four years, then I'd say he's been successful. This year we'll see if the meal is ready yet.

Since Coach Landry couldn't get Michael Irvine, Irving, or Irvin's, whatever, name right, the official position of Cowboys fans should be to support "close enough spelling." Otherwise, the editing part of this posting business is going to get way out of hand.

Well, there you go. I can;t type very well so I am not a Cowboys fan. I am really tired of these folks that run through threads, ignore the issue, and spend all their time trying to prove they are superior than everybody else.

I apologized for the typo. Your pointing it out just demonstrates that you didn;t even read the threa, or you would have seen a half dozen other posts with the same kind of tripe. You are just running into a thread, flaming someone, then pat yourself on the back for how smart you are.

Rather childish, but if that is what floats your boat, get on with yourself. You are greater than me. You are so smart, you know everything. I wish I was you.

Really, you are a pathetic twit!

so waiving henson is the final straw?

i had a lot more problem when i heard they were actually gonna implement the 3-4 Defense - effectively rendering much of our roster into square pegs in round holes (and look how that is working out - yippeeee!).

but henson?

do ya think some may be overstating henson's importance in anything other than the banking industry?

talk about a non-event...

I just don't like the way he did it. IF Henson ain't in the cards, fine, but at least be professional about it. He disrespected a guy that sisn;t have it coming. Unless you are one of those Romosexuals that think anyone that challenges the UDFA from a Div.AA school must be publically humiliated.

this was the biggest crock of sh!!t letter . . .

Dude, that was uncalled for. Since you are from DC, I suspect your motives anyway, but hey, maybe you are a Boys fan. It is possible. But because you disagree with me is no reason to say this kind of stuff.

CowboysFaninDC said:
what BP did was simply make the team better.

I acknowledged that. The point I was trying to make is that he did it in an uneven way. Totally rebuilding the defense is a great thing. It cost us three drafts, but we are there. Although unproven, I expect the D to be dominating. Did I ever say it wouldn't? OR did you gloss over that in your hurry to say my opinion was a crock?

CowboysFaninDC said:
He and other informed fans know when you have a good defense you have a chance. if you don't then you have no chance. you become the KC of the NFL. score a ton of points and nothing to show for it. see pittsburgh, see new england. see carolina. see the eagles. all of those teams had good dominating defenses.

See Chicago. Is that what you want this team to be?

CowboysFaninDC said:
as for you comment of play not to lose. did you check who our tackles were last year. did you even ****ing check the offensive ranking of the team before Adams' injury. we were a top 5 offense and that was playing against the likes of eagles, washington and giants. two playoff teams and a team that was a superbowl favorite before their injuries. so get your facts straight before you spew nonesense.

There you go again. Did you see the Washington or Oakland games? Did you read anything after the games? If believe anyone paying attention last year would have to agree that there was sharp criticism of Parcells for his conservative play calling. As far as our offense after Flo went down, do I need anything more relevant to make my point that Parcells built the defense at the cost of the offense? Thanks for making my point, even though you called it nonsense.

CowboysFaninDC said:
plus get over the notion that they ignored the offensive side. is barber, witten, fasano, JJ, rogers, peterman, crayton, romo, henson.any of those players not ofefnsive players? the issue is they missed on a few, namely rogers, peterman and henson.

And who other than Witten has proven to be an NFL performer? JJ? Barber? Crayton? Romo? The OL busts are what is making me think that Parcells is one dimensional.

CowboysFaninDC said:
there are only so many draft picks and so many FAs. or do you believe in the Commanders philosophy of over paying year in year out and have nothing to show for it. yes they are the paper champions of the pre-season. year in year out.

They must be doing something right, they embarrassed us twice last year.

CowboysFaninDC said:
headlines in the summer don't equal trophies in january!!!!

My point! I wanna see a trophy, or at least a good run at one, or a new coach. It can't be said that Jerry hasn't given Parcells everything he wanted.

I think this was one of the stupidest things I have yet read. . . . .so give me a break. open your eyes because you are missing the forest because of the trees.

Actually, your post is looking pretty thin to me. Maybe you are a skins fan after all.

Do you really think this offense is even close to Chicago bad? Honestly?

The backs are solid. The QB has his warts, but is light years ahead of anything on the Bears. The receiving corps, including Witten, is arguably among the best in the game. The only question marks are on the O-line, and Bill tried to address that. he just missed. It happens to every coach.

If you want to be critical of Parcells and his play calling, fine (the same offensive philosophy, BTW, which won the Steelers a SB last year). But just don't make crap up to fit your argument.

talk about making up crap! All I asked is if the Bears were what he preferred. Quit trolling jsut to flame folks. His conservative game plans are a flaw in his coaching. I am not making that up. It has been said by most writers broadcasters, and readers on this site. See this thread: http://cowboyszone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=61636

If you are happy with the way Parcells handles things, good for you. I am getting concerned that he may becoming a bit of a disruption himself. You can't call out players the way he does and expect them to sacrifice for you. LANDRY and Johnson never did it. Belichek doesn't. But I guess that just means Parcells is a tough guy. Maybe Mike Ditka can replace him.

Again, the Steelers won last year with a suffocating defense, ball control, and using the run to set up play action passes. That's what Bill preaches. That's what he's trying to build here, as fast as he can.

You wanna nitpick on some calls go right ahead. But when the offensive line was a seive last year and your calling for him to "open up the offense" it just makes you look like a complete fool.

You can't call out players the way he does and expect them to sacrifice for you. LANDRY and Johnson never did it.

This is the funniest thing yet.

Name me one other coach whose former players talk about him with the sheer reverance that almost all of Bill's do. Those Giant teams would walk through walls for him. Same with his ex Pats and Jet players. Why do you think guys like Terry, Fabini, Keyshawn, AGlenn, etc all jump at the chance to play for him again? You don't think he ever "called them out before" at any point in their careers? (what does that even mean, anyway?)

Parcells has built a career on motivating guys to outwork the other team. A HOF career at that. But you don't like the way he treated a third string QB so now you're going to write a letter about it. Good for you.

Oh, stop! You have a right to your opinion just like everyone else! Parcells has many flaws, but, compared to what us Cowboy fans have been through prior to his coming here...I'm glad he's here! If for nothing else...to teach JJ how to stop trying to be the hero!

Now, if Parcells could just teach JJ how to, either shut up to the media, or teach him not to SMACK his freaking lips if he does talk!

Now, go do your laundry...and everything will be alright...;)
