Opinion: Larry Allen to RT

Think before you speak.

You might have a rotten 'tude, but why would anybody "chew your head" for saying we had problems at RT and WR??

We also have problems at FS and QB, but RT and WR are biggies, too...

Funny how 1 preseason game is not enough on which to judge a QB, or 3, but 1 vanilla offensive game plan in the first preseason game is enough to panic over a RT...doesn't that seem a tad silly?

Before training camp, no one was even expecting Rogers to start...he was an afterthought and people were wondering if he'd even make the team...suddenly he has a good couple of weeks and gets to start the preseason game.

We do have other options, you know, and I don't mean Tucker. Vollers was our starter for the final 3 games last year, and I still predict him to be starting at RT this season.

We might find some depth, but believe me when I tell you we aren't going to find a quality starting RT when other teams start cutting players...that's ridiculous. A guy who can't make the top 10 OL on another team is going to be our savior at RT???? Won't happen.

If Tucker washes out at Tackle, don't look for him to be cut unless it's because of his weight...the thing to do is to move him back to a position he's played before in college...guard. We used to regularly turn tackles like Gogan into guards.

regular season = Adams, Allen, Johnson, Rivera, Vollers

Rogers looks like he has the tools, but it doesn't do any good on the sidelines. Maybe this is just some unfortunate luck, but there does seem to be enough of a trend to start seriously examining other options.

Think Jumbo Elliot can still play? ;)

I'm ok with moving Tucker to guard...he'll be big and maybe he'll be more comfortable...worth a shot...

I'm not.

I was glad to hear one of the announcers discussing that LA doesn't play well in space and that he's become one dimensional...because I've been saying that for a while...therefore, that announcer must have been pretty smart. The other point is, that even if Allen could do the job, we'd weaken ourselves at LG. So, the net is a wash.

When offensive linemen get older they move from tackle TO guard...not the other way around.

I've been with you on this Juke - as bad as RT seems right now, I think it would just make the whole line worse to put a subpar RT (at this point) in Allen out there with an unproven in Peterman.

Think before you speak.

Two weeks ago you posted a thread advocating the release of LA. Which one is it?!

I am NOT for Tucker at guard. I don't care if he played that in college. He is too tall to be an NFL guard. Most DTs are only 6'2 - 6'3....he would never get acceptable pad level in this league.

Besides Pad level and position changes, Tucker's biggest problem is apathy. The guy just looks indifferent - like he doesn't even really care.

Yes, you are right. Our season is doomed if we don't move Larry Allen to RT immediately. It's obvious you have figured out exactly what ails our team and how to fix it. Why don't Bill Parcells and Jerry Jones just listen to you?

Is this move made assuming that Flo Adams will do a better job at left tackle. Those speed guys are just killing him for some reason. Two years ago he handled them......is he out of shape and noone complaining?

He's not too tall...he's probably just not good enough...there are OG's that are 6'6" easily....the past two years, the top drafted OT's have played guard while waiting for their chance at T...there's no such thing as too tall....if there was, everyone would sign shorter DE's so the taller Ot's couldn't block them....lol.

Right Tackle and Wide Receiver are two definite problems. Many people will say that Terry Glen, Keyshawn Johnson, Quincy Morgan and etc. are a good group of receivers. My main problem is their age and durability. The Cowboys need a good young stud receiver that can stretch defenses and stay healthy for the entire season. There is nothing wrong with Terry Glen as a receiver but will he be playing 16 games I think not than what?
