we will need some great OL play for Drew to be very effective, should our line falter, he will go down in a ball of flames.

Worse?

Or feel about the same.

I'll start - I feel even better than when we signed him and was a huge proponent of his.
About the same. I've neither been too down on him nor too high on him.

Maybe a little better. I proved to Nors a few months back that Bledsoe's game did indeed deteriorate over the last two seasons in Buffalo. I don't think Bledsoe lost any physical attributes...he just played poor to average over that span.

With that said, Nors has convinced me that Parcells knows Bledsoe inside and out and will most likely streamline his game, protect him, and minimize his weaknesses. If Parcells can't get Bledsoe to play championship type ball, no one can.

I liked the signing then and now. I remember listening to him on a talk radio show back when we were in the midst of the QC/Hutch debacle thinking to myself, that 'this is what I'd like to hear coming from our qb'.

Theres no doubt that he's capable of looking as good as any qb or like the retread he's made out to be but without the right tools (oline, wr's , rb ) that goes for every nfl qb.

Bledsoe was the best we could get as regards Vets. No other one had been to 4 Pro Bowls. Still young enough, still has the arm. Right now he has the WR's, TE, RB that are as good as any such group in the NFL. The O line is the only real question. IF he gets the protection, he can still pick apart anyones secondary.
As regards forcing the ball into heavy coverage- EVERY QB does that. Just as every QB makes bad throws. How good they are depends on how often they do that. The best do that infrequently- the worst do it all the time. We shall see where Bledsoe fits in this season. Would be something else if he were to have a career year this year.

There will be some bumps in the road. Some bad games. He'll take some bad sacks and fumble. Throw a few bonehead picks. But if we can block for him the good will far outweigh the bad. I liked the pickup then and I feel the same now. No doubt in my mind: Bledsoe and Parcells will be a winning combo in 2005.

I liked the signing and still do. But the truth is the jury has been out since he got here and it still hasn't returned a verdict.

I feel the same about him. He's way overrated for a 12 year vet. He's not as accurate or athletic as either Carter or Vinny. He holds the ball too long cause he struggles with his reads after 12 years in the league, not cause he's trying to make a big play. That's just the excuse his apoligists make. Common sense should tell a 12 year vet that if there's nothing downfield, look at the shorter routes and if there's still nothing there. Throw the ball away. He struggled to move the offense against a weak Seattle defense, a mediocre Houston defense and a strong Cardinal defense. He only looked good against the Jag backups and that's just not gonna cut it.

If you think Carter has a more accurate arm than Bledsoe you really, really are missing the boat.

He is either joking constantly or he really has deluded himself into believing that Quincy is just about the best QB ever.

If he really thinks Carter is even decent, the only explanation I can fathom is that he is a) actually Quincy Carter b) related to Quincy Carter or c) never actually watched Quincy Carter.

I think Carter will probably be pretty solid in the CFL though.

I feel better and am absolutely convinced he was the best option available to us this off-season. His health could be the key to the season because I do not see either of our back-ups being ready to play now that we are about to start playing for real.

I'm actually pretty pumped about Bledsoe. He is the first legitimate QB, with big league skill, that this franchise has had since Aikman.

Great move then, great move now. I think there are going to be a lot of suprised people around the NFL.

I'll be happy to be able to say I never doubted Bledsoe here.

I liked the move then.......and I like it now.

I mean, what else were we gonna do?

I think that if given time in the pocket, Bledsoe is a weapon. He'll be a lot like Aikman in that sense.

But teams will blitz, blitz, blitz.......we MUST protect Bledsoe.

Still the same.

One nice preseason performance against scrubs does not change my opinion one bit.

agreed. I worry about his mobility (or lack thereof) behind our O-Line. But, given time he can make all the throws, which is something we've lacked since Aikman.

I feel exactly the same.

I'm neither confident nor hopeless.

I have no earthly idea.

Great pic -

off top of my head thats the 1999 Pats/Boys game. I want to say Sunday or Monday night game there. Irvin was gone and our offense was a joke.

I was at that game - Very impressed in person in the day by Coak - Dude was smaller than he looks on TV and was faster and hit harder......
