Opinions on the first playoff game and what might happen afterwards

Honestly I think a big roster shake up after a playoff exit would be an ill-advised, knee jerk reaction. This team is young, relatively deep, and primed to make the playoffs and contend for at least another few seasons. Not to mention that it has several bonafide superstars coming into their primes still on rookie deals. Continue to draft well and this run could continue for quite some time.

If Dallas loses to Tampa in the first round, especially in a very poor showing, it would not be inconceivable to see McCarthy get canned but I truly think the only coach Jerry would replace him with is Sean Payton. If Dallas wins at least 1 playoff game Mike is 100% safe. Considering it would likely cost us a second rounder to get Payton I would not be in support of this move but with Jerry you never know.

They will talk of the result being unacceptable immediately afterward, like their players in March, stick to their draft board in April with an emphasis on cornerbacks, and really, really feel good about this team in July.

I think Dallas plays Tampa. If Dak plays well they win and move on to Philly where they go in like they always do after a big win and stink it up and play lousy. Dak leads the team to 9 points and the defense gives up a 130 yards rushing and the Eagles score 19 points. And all the Dak lovers blame the defense but yet they only give up 19.

Win or lose we’ll make personnel moves like we always do during the off-season to try and get better. Unless we lay a complete rotten egg in the first round of the playoffs I expect McCarthy to be back. It’s going to be pretty hard to fire a head coach who just led us to back to back playoff appearances for the first time since 06 and 07 and back to back 12 win seasons. Plus we accomplished that without our starting QB for five games. We’ll have to see about Kellen Moore and Dan Quinn who may get head-coaching opportunities.

If we lose the wild card round, Big Mike is history. This season will be considered a failure no matter how regular season W's we end up with.

Not new news. Exactly what was being said every day since the end of last year. We all know the expectations of this year. Including McCarthy.

I give that a 1% chance of happening, and I only give it that much because it's possible Jerry wants Payton so badly that he'll do anything to get him.

Jerry is 80. In his mind he doesnt have time for a rebuild. He will run it back with a few patches.

I'll go out on a limb. They aren't getting Sean Payton and the current coaching staff is outstanding. They have a decent chance this year.

I've never been a McCarthy fan but you have to give it to him.
Only lost 1 game with back up
Dallas is the only team of 3 that hasn't lost back to back games this season
Dallas only has 4 loses -at this time- and should realistically only have one or two.
But of those one or two loses McCarthy- if coaching better- should of been victories. IMO. So I'm truly torn if we go out one and done again. Should he be replaced as HC. Guess I'll have to see how I feel if it occurs. Hoping I won't have to even get to that point.

The current team needs to make the NFCCG at minimum to stay mostly in tact

anything short of that, expect changes. Sean Payton is probably the next HC
