Why would the NFL have a reason to file in any Federal Disrict Court after an arbitration award is issued?
So they can get the venue they want. That's what they did with Brady, that is what is being argued here. And yes, it is patently unfair that the NFL itself (or one of their assigned lackeys) is the one who issues the arbitration ruling. Perhaps the players will get that changed in the next CBA, perhaps not.

But on this very board I was slammed for suggesting courts deal in anything but the facts and the letter of the law, without prejudice, and the NY court would not be any different for the NFL since the facts would be the same. Therefore neither the NFL nor the NFLPA should care about venue.

No one should have slammed your statement. Not only is venue important, but I made a post last week about how random the whole darn thing is.

Brady lost 2-1, but I guarantee you that there were 3-judge combinations on CA2 which would have given him a victory. Same for Elliott. I have no doubt there are winning combinations for him as well as losing combinations. We will just have to see what this particular combination is.

Venue is absolutely important. I think people were objecting to the politicized claim that Texas judges would be conservative and stick to the law and would favor Zeke vs. a NY court that would be concerned with social issues and go wild and therefore be worse for Zeke.
