I'm glad the the Cowboys play the Eagles the first game to put all this to bed. One game doesn't determine a season, but it can stop certain narratives or substantiate them.

And that’s what this conversation is about. It’s not about who’s better. It’s about how good OSA is. Admittedly I was shocked to see their production be the same.

Carter is the best player on a great defense. The seven guys that play behind him are that much better because of his efforts. An inexpensive free agent special teams player becomes a very expensive first team all-pro. Two rookie DBs simultaneously become defensive rookie of the year candidates. Two line mates earn big FA deals, elsewhere. Carter is moving into super star status. Philly’s FO personnel moves are made with consideration of the contract he’s going to demand.

Carter faces double teams on 97% of his snaps. He also takes more snaps than practically any d-lineman. He is rarely off the field. OSA is better than some want to believe but he’s not Carter.

No he doesn't. Same DT rate as OSA. I posted the stats.

so what was that about dominance?

I see your point, and even agree that Carter is far more dominant but your sampling is off a bit. Carter plays on a defense with 5-6 ALL-PROs and the league's best DC. Osa's had ONE ALL-Pro and DC was fired after one season.

You can easily say Carter benefits off the great players he plays with as well.

Yeah, bit of a difference, although Davis plays much fewer snaps than Carter. Their 4-man rotation DT rotation is very good, although I want to see who replaces Williams.

Being a mediocre pass rusher and bad run defender should be more appreciated.
