Giants | Have talked with Atogwe

Mike Garafolo, of The Star-Ledger, reports the New York Giants have had discussions with St. Louis Rams restricted free-agent FS Oshiomogho Atogwe.

One would assume that their signing Antrel Rolle for a jillion dollars put an end to that interest...

Atogwe with one leg, one arm, and one eye >>>>>>>> Hamlin on HGH

The dude is a baller playing on a semi-pro team, seriously. Look at the crap he had surrouding him and now imagine him playing along side Ware, Ratliff, Spencer, Jenkins, ect.....

He would put up insane numbers in Dallas, even with a ****ed up shoulder!!!!

I wouldn't mind signing Otogwe, but in all likelihood won't the Rams just match whatever we offer?

Actually, the Rams may be doing the smart thing here.
If the Cowboys, or anyone else for that matter, were to sign him to an offer sheet for anything less than 7 million, the Rams could simply match the offer and get him back for less than they would have had to pay him if they had tendered him at the higher amount.

What if we poison pill the offer with something like, "If he plays more than 3 games in the city of St. Louis he gets a $50 million bonus".

No way the Rams would match that.

Yeah, but I don't think the Rams really want to give him a long term deal paying that amount each year.

If anything, just like Bethea, the Boys will have to talk to their respective FOs for some kind of trade to make it work. It's possible with the Rams being for sale and Indy with an already very expensive probowl S.

Doesn't Atogwe have to ok and sign the Rams rematch?

No. If he signs an offer sheet with another team all they have to do is match it and they retain him.

3 yrs 12 million.

Cmon Jerry whats taking so long.

you really think the rams won't match that deal?

I'm all in favor of signing him, but that won't get it done

Rolle just signed for 5 year deal for $37 million, including $15 million gtd, so to get Atogwe, you'll need come close to that, which is fine with me, maybee 5 years 32 million, but you need to jack up the first year salary so St.Louis won't match, I'd be in favor of a low signing bonus, and giving him like a 10 million dollar first year salary (garunteed)

I believe their is a sort of unwritten rule about this amongst owners around the league. Kinda like the man rule in bathroom stalls...you just abide by it because it's good business.

I'd rather go with Atogwe and Iupati then just Earl Thomas

Exactly, it seems like people think the 'Boys have unlimited picks in the draft...when they actually have one less than normal. To compound things, I really don't think Thomas falls that far anyhow, which basically leaves them them the same ole' safety with an allergy to the interception for another year.

Yup...If we miss out on Thomas, which is very likely, the only other reasonable option would be Allen...who would be a reach at 27...Everyone else and we're facing a long learning curve and a player who probably won't play til the season after.

The problem is that the player has to sign it. A player won't sign a deal like that unless he really wants to leave his current team. I think Austin wants to stay in Dallas and would not sign an offer with a poison pill. I'm not so sure any player in St. Louis would feel the same, especially if it meant moving to Dallas.

5 years 30 mill would get the job done. I don't think they'd match that. Let's be honest though, atogwe doesn't want to return to St Louis, especially when you consider we're on a verge of a dynasty. The thing that scares me though is spagnuolo is one of the best d minded coaches out there, why doesn't he make a push to keep him? Hit him with a 1st rounder tender at least.

Dunno but we'll do film study on the guy so if he isn't worth it then we wont offer.

Atogwe isn't a big name guy, he's been under the radar, they know they couldn't get a 1st round pick for him.

1.226 mil? That's chump change. The Rams and the Cowboys must be really worried about his shoulder.
That's just a holding floor. Those number don't mean much.

I wonder what kind of contract it'd take to sign him....for us it would have to be < 5.5 mil or no go.
