Gonzalez wouldn't have survived to the 20+ pick in the 2nd, there was a lot of buzz around him
I simply disagree. And since I won the CowboysZone mock draft contest I have declared myself King of the Draft for the 2007 season.

People thought they reached for Ugoh even where they drafted him, so taking him in the first round would have been even more ridiculous.
No one worthwhile thinks this. A first would have been a slight reach, but not as much as one as Gonzalez.

some people even considered him a better NFL prospect than his team mate, Ted Ginn.
I agree that he's a better prospect than Ginn, but I think Ginn was worth about a 3rd rounder.

I agree he's an average WR.

But he's automatically the best WR in SD now.

Which tells you a lot about their WRs.
I actually think Gates is still their best WR, even though he's a TE.

A second-rounder for Chambers? Wow, that's a terrible trade for the Chargers.

Football Outsiders did a piece last year on why Chambers was the worst WR in the league. He may help San Diego, but not nearly enough to be worth a second rounder.

True true.

Having Gates on that team is probably gonna make Chambers look like a good WR. All he has to do is beat single coverage.

Not giving away our second round pick, I will throttle anyone who attempts to trade our #1s and it better be our third and every second day picks to the skins if they even have a first rounder in the next draft. That would be a nice first day in the draft and after that I can drink beer and snooze in the sun the second day. All we really want is some good back ups. I am saying this now to avoid the rush.

Too bad they don't have to play us.

(Hoping you'll get the sarcastic hint.)

I would have gladly given up a 2nd for Chambers in Dallas...in a heartbeat. The guy has the speed to stretch the defense, and he's crushed us twice in the past. You have to look at Chambers a couple years ago really...WR's without QB's don't ever look very good.

Chambers would be starting for us and letting Crayton get back to what he does best, being a 3rd receiver.

Yeah im all for getting taylor now. Chambers was going to go after this season for sure, but he went for a second. Miami wasn't going to settle for anything less than a first for taylor.
If we get Jason Taylor we are back on top as far as talent, Zach Thomas and him are aging but I believe that Jason Taylor has a couple of years left in the tank, with a winning team! If we want to compete against New England in the super bowl we have to make a move now!

What can I say? I'm glad you aren't the Cowboys GM.

And the Chargers continue to stockpile average receivers. :lmao2:

Nice job drafting Davis in the first round.

I believe Chambers is worth a 2nd round pick, he's a good WR that was limited because of the QB throwing him the ball in Miami...

To be fair, you probably wouldn't have given up a second and seventh for Wes Welker either. Only time will tell if the Chargers made a good move, calling it one way or the other at this point is way premature.

I am hearing that that they gave up a 2nd....if so that was incredibly stupid..especially since they would have to get through Pitt/Indy/NE to make it to the Super Bowl. I would not have wanted Dallas to do that either...but we can make it to the Super Bowl without him...but to win a Super Bowl we are going to need a healthy Glenn or a Chris Chambers type player...but not at the expense of a 2nd round pick

Yeah!! I'd hate to miss out on the next Jacob Rogers or Quincy Carter or Tony Dixon or Dwayne Goodrich. You guys kill me. Every draft pick is a crap shoot. I don't necesarily want CC but I'd trade our #2 for a quality starting caliber CB.

You should try watching 50/50 Chambers every week. :lmao2:

Vincent Jackson is far better than Chambers.

Will you retract this statement now?

You want a retraction because 50/50 managed nearly 1000 yards and 4 TDs but still only caught 50% of his passes?

OK. He performed slightly better than Vincent jackson this season. Whoopee.

Almost managed a 1000 yard season between the two teams. I would say that is a lot better than average and he was much better than V. Jackson while you said Jackson was a far better WR.

So 25 receptions and 300 yards is only slightly better and he switched teams midseason:laugh1:

Just own up - you completely discounted the move.

San Diego without C Chambers - 3-3

San Diego with C Chambers - 8-2

It's idiotic to attribute their turnaround to Chris Chambers when it had far more to do with their defense. Yes, Chambres caught a few more passes and yardage than Jackson, but he needed nearly 50 more passes to do it.

Chris Chambers is not a good #1 WR. Not sure when you're going to come to grips with that, but it's true. And it's not going to change. He was thrown the ball 129 times, and managed 970 yards and 4 TDs. That's about as good as Shaun MacDonald, Bernard Berrian or Reggie Brown.

I'm supposed to be impressed that he's an average, nondescript WR? No thanks - I've watched him too long.

So in essence, when the evidence is before you you still won't admit you are wrong - OK no problem!!

By the way, thet thrown to stat is probably one of the most meaningless stats I have seen.

Rivers completion percentage was 60% for the year. That is a 51% completion percentage to Chambers and I would think that the average for completion percentage would be higher to RB's and TE versus WR's.

With T Green as QB Chambers started the year with 3 -100 yard games and an average of 7 catches a game.

If I was wrong, I'd be more than happy to say so.

I'm not. So I won't. He's the same old Chris Chambers. Try watching him sometime instead of just getting moist over his 900 yards and 4 TDs on 129 pass attempts.
