Reggie Bush is not overrated, not one bit. He is not a bust, bum, or anything else negative that people may say.
I wish we could have gotten him, but I love the RBs we have.
Bush just needed to learn that the things he did in college some/all will not work in the NFL. Even though it is just football, the NFL is a different level, better coaching, to start with, and he plays against top players every week. In college you may play top teams every 2 or 3 weeks, and even on some of those top teams they may not always have top players playing in the different positions.
His rookie season, yes was a learning season, but he had Deuce, and I'm sure everyone will agree that with Deuce there Bush did not get to see/learn as much as he did this past season, and you know what the same goes for Sean Peyton, he was a rookie head coach in 2006, and he showed his aggressive nature all season but in that playoff game in Chicago, that aggressive nature, was a key thing in their loss to the Bears. The Seahawks had shown them the week before that the Bears defense could be run on. The weather was made for Bush and Deuce to gash the bears defense, and they did, with all of the 10 running plays that they ran, 6 carries for Deuce, 4 for Bush or vice versa.
Then this past season I Peyton traded away the RB that they drafted from Ohio St., that could have been their workhorse when Deuce went down.
Peyton loves the aggressive down the field plays, they are exciting, intoxicating and Bush's abilities makes you love that even more.
Yes, this past season Bush learned what he would have learned last season, if Deuce had not been there.
I will go on record now and say that both Peyton and Bush will do a lot better than last season, and show that neither is a bust.
I am not a Vy fan, so I am just waiting to give him the official bust tag. But we must give him his 3rd season to see if he can become a true NFL QB.
