OU vs Texas

If you want to talk about bad calls, don't forget the running into the kicker that turned a punt into a TD. Or the holding that they let OU's left tackle get away with all game.

The refs did suck all around, but they weren't the difference in this game

Congrats to all my fellow Longhorns fans on a great game played by our beloved 'Horns.

With that said, where's one of our OU members, Dallas at? He gave me lots of grief last year when OU beat Texas and I questioned some bad calls made by the refs. Sour grapes, I admit, but I did take my medicine like a man. I even had the nerve to congratulate him and the Sooners on a well-played game.

So where is he at? This is the second year in a row that I noticed how Dallas posts his anti-Texas rhetoric before kickoff and then waits for the outcome before coming back to talk smack.

great game, horrible big 12 officials screwed both teams. And on that INT, it was a good call, Texas lost an INT against USC in the title game the same way. The LB caught the ball, and the ground forced it loose when he landed on his back. The official explanation was that possesion must be maintained even after hitting the ground.

That call was legit. How would you call contact otherwise? Whether grabbing his calf for a strain or a fake wouldn't have mattered.

What a helluva game.........I am one of the few that gave UT a chance.....IMO, UT could have won by much more. I will explain. Too often they tried to get cute inside the 5 and had to settle for 2 FGs, instead of merely using Johnson up the gut. I firmly believe Johnson would have been able to punch it in on two of those drives that we settled for 3. It could have easily been 52-35.

The Refs suck. 4 personal foul calls and all were bogus (2 on each team). 3 of them came on the sidelines when the defender was merely trying to stop his own momentum, as well as the QB. The QB hits the ground and the flag comes out......THE SEC is definitely laughing at the wimpiness of those calls. That roughing the punter penalty was complete garbage. There was a few other calls that went against both teams that were bad too.

On the first OU TD, he wasn't in. It should have been 4th and inches. Conversely, when Johnson scored that first TD for UT, he was out at about 1/2 yd line. I forgot the down, but UT should have had to lineup again. I guess each play was a wash.

Whoever has the OU kicker in their fantasy league is hating life. They don't kick FGs......all they do is score TDs.....it is unreal how much of a TD machine they are.

I was extremely impressed with the UT defense. They brought it all game. I hope they can do the same next week against Mizzou. My only beef with them came on that total blown coverage on the Gresham TD and that defensive penalty down in the red zone that kept an OU drive alive.

As far the UT running game. I have no clue why they kept trying to run sweeps and tosses to the outside on that OU defense. Those kids are too fast and swarm like angry wasps to the ball.....the best way to attack a defense like that, is up the middle with counters, draws, and dives....The loss of that LB really hurt OU in the middle. He seems to be a very good player and always around the ball.

This was Ali / Frazier and definitely lived up to the billing.

I'm not so sure about that, Rowdy. He barely grazed the punter and that occurred after the defender was clearly trying to pull up. You know and I know that there have been many other defenders in the past get away with a lot more contact than just brushing up against a punter. Still, it was a legit call (based upon the rule's wording of it) - it's just that I feel that the punter did a wonderful job of "selling" the foul, so to speak, and that the call could have gone either way.

it was a totally weak call and you know it. had OU done that to the UT punter, you would be screaming foul for days.

I saw the same exact crap last night at the HS football game I went to. We rushed the punter twice one the same drive and both times were whistled for roughing the punter.....both looked like hokey calls. If anything one was a running into the kicker and the other was just a downright bad call.

What you don't see in this picture (kindly provided by our very own "Dallas"), are the Sooner football players off to the right side of the picture frame, laying flat on their stomaches with their butts in the air due to the "tailgating" they just received from our beloved Longhorns.

Hey, they're not called "Longhorns" for nothing... ;)

Wow. Ill just make two points.

1. Never blame the refs or you risk sour grapes. On that note, I question both roughing the passer calls that cost OU 30 yards and 3 pts plus. Clearly an INT in the endzone for OU that would have taken away another 3 by Texas. The questionable call against OU scoring their first TD was irrelevant in that 4th and inches probably would not have stopped seven anyway.

2. Texas played well.
and the blatant hold by #72 for OU on the bootleg pass on the first drive in the first quarter that led to 7 points for OU. which was the last play I saw because I got called in to work for a while.:bang2:

Jimmy, I honestly believe that our Sooner friends have packed it in and called it a night on the message board. But on a lighter side, my brother called and asked me what could be worse than being a Sooners fan right now?

My response:

A Sooners fan that also happens to root for the Arizona Cardinals as well. :laugh2:

Edit: Sorry you had to work - you missed one hell of a great game today.

I'm so pissed, damn aggie students working for me making me miss this game.

Also the Sooners always had a lineman downfield on that middle screen that was working so well for them..which helps explain why it worked so well.

college and NFL have different rules for illegal man downfield......college is way more lenient. This is one of the reasons why screen passes do so well at that level, as opposed to the NFL.

I want no part of #1 right now........put us at #2 and leave us there.......

#1 during the regular season has been a very bad omen the last 2 years.....

We can be #2 and then get to the BCS Championship game and win the #1 spot in that game.....of course we still have to beat Mizzou, OSU, TT, Kansas, A&M (they suck but have a 2 game winning streak against us) and the Big 12 Title game.
