After an injury like that, you can still play for a bit with it taped up. The problem is a few hours pass and the swelling kicks up to 11 and then you're toast.

Wow...I didn't know that he throws with his hammy....agreed with the earlier poster that said that this is just the MO on Favre....in fact, as soon as he threw it I said "There's the Favre we all know...".

Yeah, he's a tough guy....but show me pics of the RB's that get banged up play-in and play-out.

Believe it or not, that is fairly common. Favre is a tough son of gun, no doubt.

uhh... ive broken my ankle 3 times and sprained it two more. For an ankle to be that blown up and bruised isnt an every game thing.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for the guy? I wonder how many other QB's have had the same or worse and wouldn't want photos etc. taken of it....they just man up and say "Hey, it's part of the game.".

Not just "It's part of the game....but take some pictures of this...would you look at this?".

Welcome to football Brett.....it finally HIT you. :)

Football gods don't like people running up scores on their favorite team.

I'm not sure I buy those pictures. The ankle looks like a grade 2 or 3...one that would likely have you limping noticeably, let alone having any sort of "game" mobility. The thigh looks remarkably similar to the pulled hamstrings I grew so fond of in college. That's not from a hit. Maybe it is him, but I wonder why he would be having photos snapped of what has to be pretty common injuries after 250 yrs in the pros. No question he's tough, just wonder why he's popping pics in his kitchen. That's liable to be some weekend warrior who had a spill after playing rec flag ball.:laugh2:

You could definitely get a bruise like that on your leg from a hit.

It's not necessarily a terrible thing either. I've seen very mild sprains look like that. Sometimes, it's just blood pooling from an injury further up on the leg (that's what happened with me.)

How do we know this is really Favre???

Sorry, but that could be anybody's ankle or leg. As much stuff is faked on the Internet, I have a hard time believing these are legit.

LOL @ some folks who are now questioning why he stays in when beat up like that yet would piss, moan, and call Cowboys players names if they get banged up at all and have to miss a game.

Nothing like changing what you think is tough, and what players should do, to fit your personal like or dislike of said players.

Half the folks on this forum would call in from work and wouldn't even get out of bed if they were banged up like that let alone attempt to play in a football game.

Favre is a very tough QB.

Ya but it was swelled up. And the swelling is painful on the injury

I give Favre major props for staying in the game after getting beat up. If those picks actually are legit, it just shows how much the game means to Favre. Seriously, at this point he is not playing for the money. He has more money now then he could ever spend, so he has to be playing the game just because he loves it.

Does make me wonder about how tough some of our players are. I mean, Favre is out there running around trying to make plays and his whole leg is purple and his ankle is like 5 times normal size and yet Flozel Adams gets a "strained calf" and has to sit on the bench by himself for the remainder of the game. Not taking treatments, not having the trainers checking him out, just him sitting on the end of the bench by himself just looking around while Romo is getting killed.

You would think Flo would try to "Cowboy Up", but I guess not. I think it is safe to say that Flozel will never be confused with Favre when it comes to toughness.

I know this may piss off some posters on this board for calling out Flo like this, but in my opinion Flo dogged it. I know that if I was an OT and my QB was getting killed, anything short of being carted off the field wearing an air-cast would not have stopped me from at least trying to play.

My .02

me for one. i am currently lying in bed with my foot elevated rather than at my desk after what i'm assuming is an ankle sprain playing seven a side football (soccer) last night. still waiting for the swelling and bruising to come in as it was only about 12 hours ago, which is strange because last time i did my ankle i couldn't fit my football boot back on after half an hour, but i literally can't put any weight on it at all.
and for anyone doubting that favre would have been able to play with those injuries i'd point out that i injured my ankle about 20 mins into an hour long game and was able to run it off and finish the match. it wasn't until i got home and had a shower that the adrenaline wore off and it started to hurt. by 3 am i was getting woken up with a throbbing pain and was unable to walk.

Why in the world would you wear boots while playing soccer!? Try cleats next time. You got what you deserved, you fool. And I don't want to hear anything about how the boots matched your kit, that's just bollocks.

why do you guys call them cleats anyway, any idea where the name came from? football boots i can understand, back at the turn of the last century they were big cumbersome boots that have evolved into lightweight kangaroo leather and materials like that so i can understand where the word boot comes from but cleats has always confused me. particularly when i started playing madden and it talks about them digging in their cleats. very confusing when you have no idea what cleats are.

edit: they did match my kit actually. silver with green flashes that match the celtic kit i usually play in ;)

Why is Favre the only player to have pictures taken of his injuries?

Yeah, those pics really aren't that bad... I've played assorted sports (basketball, softball) with worse...

And I didn't have the advantage of the wonders of modern chemistry, i.e., numbing injections... when the injuries are deep bruises like that, they loosen up as you run on them...

I had a very similar looking leg after a collision in the outfield playing softball (both running full speed for the fly ball.)

Hey, that's EXACTLY how I got my thigh bruise, too... only mine should have been avoided, it was in practice and the coach was hitting fungos... I was playing right centerfield, the left centerfielder had just caught his fly ball, it was my turn... the coach hit one between the two of us, and I was ranging over to my right to catch it when blam, the left centerfielder kneed me in the thigh...

A few days later, we were playing a scrimmage game against another local team, and I popped my hamstring in my other leg trying to beat out a ground ball... the next day, a friend saw me limping, and asked what happened... I pulled up the leg of my shorts to show the thigh bruise (which was shaped a bit like mainland China), and said "see that?? That's my GOOD leg"...

Even then, I didn't miss any games, I just played catcher for a coupla weeks... in that time, I stretched many a double into a single, and I redefined station to station baserunning... LOL...
