I just thought these were some interesting quotes and really speak to the culture that we have building.

Marinelli:
"I just love it here. I love football and this place, it just reeks with tradition and winning and wanting to win, wanting to be the very, very best. I think that's as exciting as anything."

Linehan:
I don't think I've ever had as much fun as I did last year coaching. It wasn't just the winning. The way the organization is run, the day-to-day and working for Jason. All of it has been great."

"I think that's one of the things I'm most proud of with our team and I think Jason (Garrett) has done a great job in developing the communication to have the team chemistry we had this year."

Thanks for sharing that Linehan quote. I hadn't seen it before.

I just knew that Marinelli wasn't going anywhere. Everytime I watched him you can see the passion oozing from his coaching the players. He just looked like he was made for this defense and that the defense was made from him. I just found it hard to believe he would just walk away from what he loved doing here to go to the worst team in the NFL and give it all up. His fingerprints are all over this defense. Plus the FO respects him. That trade up for Lawrence would not have been possible by anyone but Marinelli. He didn't draft Lawrence. But he had a heavy influence to swing that trade.

I said it before and i'll say it again: Jason Garrett bothers me-he really does. But, you can tell by his demeanor that he is a good man with good character.

There is something special about having a coach who struggled with you get increasingly better-hopefully Jason continues on that path for the next few years. The team and the coaches love playing for him.

I'm glad we finally got Jason out of the OC/HC role. Jason is not an on the field technician. He's a guy that knows how to find and assemble talent. I think Garrett is someone who knows how to MOVE OUT THE WAY and let his guys do what they know how to do best. Since he's younger, he's probably not hovering over the shoulders of his coordinators and trying to tell them to do their job. He gives them the support and resources they need and lets them go to work. Working for someone who isn't micromanaging you is definitely a positive.

The terrible clock management that has cost us no less than 7 games in his tenure here. The terrible clock management at the end of halfs that i'm sure have cost us a few more.

I am coming around on him, though.

Most coaches love to actually coach players. They like to get on the field and go over techniques and teach them on the field of play.

What they don't like as much is constantly going over things in the film room (they often think that is more of the player's responsibility) and players that think they are too good to be coached.

That's what Garrett has been about. If you're a player on this team, you're going to be coached. And if you're a coach on this team, you're going to do coaching. Easy to see why assistants have really liked it here.

You mean they aren't praising Jerry Jones and the whole Cowboys organization.

You think they stayed because they thought it sucked?

There isn't a coach alive who would've gotten us 7+ more wins in that time. That's like criticizing Romo for ever throwing an INT, or even an incompletion. Of course that's just my opinion, same as yours

That's a great observation and is a trait that is far undervalued in today's business climate. It's rare because Alpha males tend to make up the top of any organization chart and they are usually obsessive, hands on people with egos to stroke. The fact that Jason was able to step back and let his coaches coach (I'm sure it wasn't easy to give up calling plays) shows he walks the walk.

It takes the right kind of guy to be able to do that.

If Garrett actually cost us those 7 games with lousy game management then there are coaches who would have gotten us those 7 wins easy.

Kyle Shanahan quit after 1 year as Cleveland's OC because of the drama surrounding Manziel.

I think that was the point. Garrett didn't cost 7 games with lousy game management. It's a silly claim.

Whether it is 7 or not there is a common perception that he cost us games with his less than stellar game management. Anybody that doesnt recognize that he at least had some shortcomings in that dept. are simply in denial.

You think we lose that GB game with a huge 2nd half lead with a better coach? Or what about the Detroit game everybody likes to bring up? We could bring up others, but the point is we lost games in historical fashion that teams in the league had never lost.

You sig looks more ridiculous all the time.

Why is that? Because I picked us winning a play-off game at the beginning of the season because of the change in play-calling, because Garrett sucked at it and I was right?
