Our first round pick

I hope we turn it into 3 second round picks so I won't vomit when we use one on a TE

I would not trade up for any player. Given our last draft, we cleaned up in the 4th round and 6th rounds. Packaging a 4th rounder to move up could cost us a Dak Prescott or Anthony Brown type talent, given our success in lower rounds.

I'd stay put and get Demarcus Walker, who the draft experts would balk at being selected too high, then in the redraft halfway through the 2017 season, select him in the top 10.

if its for a top 3 pick in round 2 I agree but nit much lower than that
I agree, in that range and youre not moving down much at all while grabbibg a high 3rd for the trouble.
Fits the charts too.

Have you really paid attention to Walkers film? What about him excites you as a defensive end? I'm trying to convince myself but I cant

Cowboys go OL instead of defense at 28 and Cowboy Nation might riot.

The Cowboys can win a SB with the WR's we have (TWill and Butler included) but not the defense.
If you can keep Williams or get a similar WR for 5-6 million per year, sure. It has to be addressed. If it's not in FA or keeping Williams then it moves up the chart right behind DE as a need. Some middling FA WR probably means a WR in the top 3 rounds at minimum.

In critical moments for Florida State, he's made plays. I'm not a film study guy, it's just my impression that he plays big in big moments. Why, what do you see that makes you cautious about him?

Obvioisly we pick at 28 so there will be 27 players off the board when we pick. I would expect that all of the immediate impact edge rushers will be long gone by the time we pick which will leave us with a developmental player at de regardless if he is taken in the first round or the 4th or 5th.

It is entirely possible that the best value on the board when we pick would be at right offensive tackle. I know that would make the collective heads of many on this board explode, but it would probably be a great use of the pick.

The future of this franchise is now Dak and Zeke and need to be protected. If Dak has time to throw he does a great job of hitting the open man.

A dominant right tackle (one may actually be available when we pick) would solidify the line and drive the average cost per player down on the offensive line. It would also enable us to let Collins walk if we chose to at the end of his contract or resign him and keep the line intact.

A very good guard can be had in the top 3 rounds of most drafts. We can save a lot of cap by moving on from the turnstile, Free and give us flexibility moving forward.

It would be even more awesome if we could get a trade back and still get a great right tackle and a pick. The identity of this team is the offensive line and we need to keep that identity and make Dak and Zeke super effective going forward.
You do not need an excuse to take the BPA. Just a wise GM/owner.

Trade Romo for Parnell.

As much as we need defense help, we have to get a good WR. I seen Atlanta shred GB and I give it to their wr play for much of their success.

I agree here. WR is a need. We need a big playmaker who is good enough to pull double off of Dez.

Do what we must to get Derick Barnett. Win the Super Bowl. End of thread.

We could elect to go with Chaz Green at RT and draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd to play RT if necessary and use him as the swing/heir apparent in case Green goes down. There may be a few available at that time that could still contribute.

I say let's try the New England model as they have a lot of success at drafting and free agent. By the way NE always goes for need and fit. BPA only applies when they feel that the player is an impact player.

We aren't the patriots and I don't want us to be
