Terrence Newman is playing on a $2.5 million a year contract instead of a $10 million a year contract. That's $7.5 more cap space a year the Bengals can spend on fortifying the team around Newman.

Terrence Newman was a fine $2.5 million a year corner in Dallas. He was an absolutely terrible $10 million corner in Dallas. It's the GM's incredibly silly decisions that set it up for failure.

Facts have no place in this debate

Board homers are consistent in their refrain

It is not garret
It is not Jerry
It is not the players

It is just bad luck

Some people fail to acknowleedge that maybe the pressure with playing for a the Cowboys and having a owner like Jerry as your Owner/GM may do more harm to players than good. Its not about "coaching". Its not about the "talent". This team could have the same personnel as the Seahawks and it would still underachieve.

I think you are on to something here. Jerry Jones gives the organization a relaxed type atmosphere. The players know who is in charge and it ain't the coach, unlike the other 31 teams in the league. How else can you explain the same results year after year. Their is one common denominator and that's the owner. He has to go but unfortunately, that's not going to happen.

Yet another laughable excuse to excuse poor performance
Seeing your post history of excuse-making I am not surprised

So, the pressure is too great

Maybe we should we just disband the team

17 years of irrelevancy says it probably has something to do with the players, the coaches the front office and even the fans.

Does it? We're talking about two specific players here, so I don't think you can fall back on your reflexive 17-years argument and have it make any sense.

Newman flat sucked his last year here Its silly to even suggest otherwise. Why is a question neither you or I have the answer to.

Jenkins was still capable of playing well but he was a mental midget. No suprise hes playing well for a team thats not completely dysfunctional.

Two specific players that epitomizes the failings of this team.

Interesting takes.

It's hard to refute arguments that are based primarily on what you want to believe. For example, what it is about a supposed limit to dysfunction that makes mental midgets play better? I don't know, so it's hard to structure a reasonable reply to such a point.

Team needs pass rushers. Legit pass rushers. And not just one of them.

Excuse making? That's actually the opposite of excuse making.

I'm telling you....i've seen how our ex-players did today....how our ex-coaches have done today......if we get rid of Romo, Ware and Witten they'd excel even more in their careers.

Pacman Jones playing well for the bengals also. Pass rush helps. I think it's coaching and the culture are the problems.

We drafted a corner josh Thomas in the 5th a few years back and then cut him. I think he stuck with the panthers a couple years. Anybody heard anything on him?

EDIT: he is still with the panthers since 2011. Should never have cut him. We could use him.

granted, u need a good pass rush, but its not the coaches, its not the players to the larger degree, its the management per say, Jerry Jones: Think about this:
First, last year or whenever the eagles signed what 12 players or so the dream team. Were the eagles hurt by all of those players that didn't produce and big salaries? No! The eagles management had contracts fixed where if players didn't produce they didn't get the money till playoff or production. Yet,. year in and year out,. the cowboys have high salaries.

Next, we all saw how Ratliff didn't show up in shape, wouldn't work out like he was suppose to under trainers for the cowboys. Report was posted that the same thing occurred for miles Austin who refused to work out like he should. So, what happens, Ratliff told cowboys he couldn't play till next year, now looks like Ratliff will play against us in the bear game. Austin has been in and out last 3 years with hamstring issues, a former player said that's want to and attitude, yet, Austin gets paid big bucks, but doesn't produce. Who does that go back to? Jerry Jones.

Last 16 years cowboys have failed to produce but for one lone year, which cowboys have won 1 playoff game in that time since 1997. Who is the lone person still with the team? Jerry Jones

Dan Patrick touched on this in a video not to recently.

Even the great Roger Staubach said that Jerry Jones should give up some authority and control. If Roger said that, maybe now, Jerry Jones will be held accountable.

When players know bottom line, that the owner is the boss, ultimately players wont believe in what the head coach is saying, So, till Jerry Jones makes contracts more demanding, players more responsible, hold them accountable, why should things change?

For instance, we were winning in games, when we play man to man defense, then someone changes that back to zone, we stink at zone, so we lost those games, then we go back to man, play good, then back to zone, who changes all that?

We were running like in ram game, then abandon that, reports were that Callahan was ticked off about something, was someone overriding him, telling him what to run?

That's just a few things, so think about that and more. Don't get me started on the drafts that Jerry Jones has been in charge of last 16 years.

Me too. They're basically the same players they've always been. Some good, some bad. They've made some plays, and they've been beat. Neither is going to the Pro Bowl (unless they're like the 5th alternates)
