Our mistake - firing Wade Phillips

LOL

Our mistake was hiring Wade Phillips in the first place. Instead of following Parcells by hiring another quality HC Jerry was more interested in hiring a 3-4 defensive coordinator. Wade wasn't hired due to his history of success as HC, he was hired because Parcells switched us to a 3-4 defense and Jerry considered Wade the top 3-4 coordinator. Problem is that we needed a HC, not another Jerry coordinator with the HC title.

Wade was clearly carried by Parcells groceries and Romo's Houdini act to win games that should have been coaches losses.

Is the new acronym OMSHGROW?

(Our mistake shouldn't have gotten rid of wade)

Funny that the same excuse can be applied to Jason. Heck, at least Wade has gotten us into the playoffs with the team he was given. Jason fumbled many times during his tenure to win games that would take us into the playoffs. Frankly, Wade has out performed Jason and its not even close. Jason is the epitomy of a mediocre coach. Wade was at least a proven coach and a top def. coordinator before coming here? What was Jason's claim to fame? Being Aikman's backup? Pfft.

As a coach, so you can never let a team quit on you. That's a very basic fundamental of coaching.

With all the flaws Jason Garrett has, he at least has that ability.

I saw some quit against New Orleans and also against the Bears..............Rowan on Talking Cowboys also mentioned that he saw guys quiting on defense, saying that some guys were just jogging around in Chicago and just wanted the game to end.

Rowan mentioned Bruce Carter by name, saying something to the affect that "I dont need you quiting Bruce Carter, I need you to make some plays".

So the idea that every player is going balls to the wall every play for Garrett is not exactly true, even the guys doing their shows from Valley Ranch say that some guys were quiting this year.

At times, and I'm not saying that it's right or wrong, but it's appeared that Romo has bailed Garrett out and won some games they probably shouldn't have with the really bad coaching going on here.

Exactly.................I still have no idea how Romo drove the team 87 yards against the Skins and throws a game winning TD with a herniated disk in his back that he had surgery on 4 days later.

Somebody on the FAN said that the Commander win saved Garrett's job................if not for a miracle TD on 4th and goal from the 12, we probably have a new head coach today..............so yea, Romo basically saved Garrett's job for another season.

Even though it saved Garrett, that game was my favorite game of the season. All week the Skins were talking about how they were going to end our season and the look of just disbelief of what happened after that 4th down play is something I am not going to forget. That was just priceless how everybody in the stands were just standing there with their mouths open not believing what just happened.........................thats the game I will remember from the 2013 season.

That game was the best game of the season for sure. It was definately my happiest win this year.

I was all for it, and I was wrong. In hindsight he was a great coach for us, Garrett was the problem and is the problem now.

All things considered and all things being equal I would welcome Fat Boy back simply because he is such a good dancer. That day when he and Brent Musburger had a dance-off, that was one of the finer days of NFL football.

Other than the fact the team completely quit on him - I agree.

The fact that a team would quit on a coach is telling.
So telling that any sane GM who wants a disciplined defensive team would be nuts to hire this retread.

Oh, I hear his Texas defense helped win . . . how many games this past season?

He's been posting like crazy over the past few days on Twitter. any shot he returns as DC?

If you were him would you come back here to be the DC to the HC that replaced you after you were fired? I highly doubt anyone with any pride would actually do that.

Yeah he tried the old jimmy Johnson/Barry Switzerland switcheroo!

Welcome to the off season.

Well it's not the off season.... Wait, uh, never mind. It is for us. I was fooled because goofball is still being played.

I think he would.
That's what it should have been first time around.

Although I don't see him having success here as DC.

Agree. I was so disappointed at that search. Jerry was doing the retread carousel and thinking of Norv, Wade, etc an didn't look outside the box at all or for a guy with a strong playoff history.

Probably should have been that way the first time around but I'd be surprised if a guy with any pride in himself, and his abilities, would come back to a place to be the DC for the guy who replaced him.

In just about any other case I would agree. But "ahh shucks" Wade would probably just want to be with football "family"

if fat boy is so great you'd think he and his defense would half pulled out at least one of the 15 or 14 games the Texans lost.

That is what keeps us down: hiring retreads whose reputations far exceeds actual wins and playoffs success. Norv Turner anyone? How about one of them Ryans boys? I hear they win a Lombardini trophy ever year.

Where was Stephen Jones during that search? Ya know, the supposed voice of reason in the front office.

He's as big of a fraud as his father.
