They are really going to have an abundance of excellent choices:
- If they covet one of the Tier Two QBs, they are both there (Hackenberg and Cook specifically)
- A couple of high risk/reward LBs could really make a difference for the next couple of years (Jack and, to a lesser extent Ragland)
- Actual useful edge rushers (Spence, Dodd, Ogbah, Bullard?) if that is the best junction of need/talent
- A couple of nice DBs (Alexander and Bell), with a couple of more possibles (Howard, Fuller)
- A ton of nice tackles, albeit mostly 1-tech. The two Alabama products headline this list.
- At least one interesting WR (Thomas) with a couple more likely third round targets.
- One TE, whose 2nd round choice would cause the board to explode given this teams 2nd round TE history.
That, my friends, is some NICE value. Our immediate need is currently edge rushers. However, next year we are really going to be hurting for CBs. I know it is not going to be popular, but is Alexander the best pick at 34, given his value and the upcoming CB need? It is easy to point to the DL as a source of current need and great value remaining, but there seem to be far more of these specimens currently remaining on the board, with the hope for a potential slip of one (or more) of them into the top of the 3rd round.
Just a thought.
