Just got in a little while ago from talking to one of my neighbors (who happens to be a limo driver) a he said that he dropped Roy Williams off at Halas Hall late yesterday and he is schedule to pick him up and take him to the airport tonight at 5pm. I must say, I thought it was a social visit until I googled some of the stories out there about him being traded etc. What happened to this guy and could he come cheap and recapture his career under Lovie?

Kenny Phillips anyone?

Could that person be confused with UNC's Roy Williams, who could be (quietly)interviewing for the Chicago Bulls' opening HC job?

If i were a Bears fan I'd gouge out both my eyes.

That and I find it hard to believe the same team who didn't want to overpay their skilled DC Ron Rivera another dime is also the same team who's willing to shell out their pockets for some guy with horrible coverage skills to play in their COVER 2 scheme.

I think Roy should become the highest paid special teams player history. this guy should not be on the field starting for us anymore.PERIOD! i would take anything in a trade for him. but as i said. the problem is no one wants him.

If he's cut/released/traded after June 1, doesn't his remaining bonus money get accelerated over two years and not one?

maybe Adam can address this better, but I was thinking it didnt matter when a player was traded. If traded regardless of pre or post June 1, all the signing bonus is accelerated...you cant split it up like if he's released post June 1

Rex Grossman, Kyle Orton, or Brandon Lloyd, perhaps? At least they have dirt-cheap contracts.:laugh1:

I can never really bash Roy. I like him too much.

BUT... like many others I wonder "what happened"???

I hope the number thing is psychological and it works to getting him back to his old ways. Bring back da' hamma.

His poor coverage skills, really, don't bother me a whole lot(not alot of SS's have strong coverage skills anyways). However-it seems like wherever he goes, the team will end up following his lead.

Remember the GB game last year, as well as Philly 1 and the '06 Indy game? He just came out BLAZING, HITTING, etc, etc. And the entire team just caught on his coattails. OTOH-when he comes out flat et al, the entire D comes out even more emotionless.

IOW-if he REALLY wants to, the leadership this team sorely needs is RIGHT there in his laps. Too bad he doesn't take advantage of it consistently.

Yeah, playing in a Cover 2 defense is exactly what Roy Williams needs to revive his career.

Wait, what?
