maybe Adam can address this better, but I was thinking it didnt matter when a player was traded. If traded regardless of pre or post June 1, all the signing bonus is accelerated...you cant split it up like if he's released post June 1

David

David, I know something changed about the Jun1 date I think last year. But I don't remember what it was. It may be the trade accelerates it all to now and if cut/retired/released it goes over two years. Just not sure. Hos, says yes.

I think the change was that it doesn't matter if it's before or after June 1, because you can simply elect to have it apply as if it occurred after June 1. In other words, you can elect to have it spread over two years.

It's kinda sad reading those threads on that site, all fans of all teams think the Roy stinks apparently.

Well, that answers that. He gets a chance to turn it around this year. Let's see what some one on one coaching gets us. Say what you want about ole funny hair. He can love him some DBs and gets it done there pretty good. I'm glad to see ole Davo back.

Even if he were traded this year, JJones wouldn't do it before June 1st. As someone else already said... 8 million dollar hit before... around a 3.5 million hit after June 1st.

He will be a Cowboy till next year.

I'm going to optomistic that Roy isn't blind to his overwhelming criticism, and will make an improvement that will be good. Still I don't think he will be an NFL elite safety, but one hell of a run stuffer since we now seem to have an improved corner unit with pacman. But, to stay on point, theres no way we trade him with that kind of a cap hit.

Of course if pacman plays, which i think he will

Roy Williams in cover 2 defense...if the Bears did that then that would be a hell of a trade for us.

Are you sure it wasn't Detroit's WR Roy Williams? Same name and they look alike.

That's why the Boys should do whatever it takes to get Roy Williams the WR on draft day.

They can then trade him for something good and write up the contract omitting middle initials.

random GM: "Umm, Jerry, Roy Williams the defensive back just showed up at our practice facility. What gives?"

Jerry Jones: "(making static noises) What, huh? Umm, sorry, I can't hear you...gotta run...good luck with Roy...thanks again..."

RLW could fit in a Cover2, if, he were playing the MLB position. That position is more Safety then LB, IMO, anyway. Considering the issues that Chicago is having with Urlacher, it might make sense for them to consider something like that. The question would be, what would they do with him once BU is back in the fold? Unless, of course, they don't intend to bring Urlacher back.

That would be interesting!
