Our running back worries are over

I'm don't really think that this is our short yardage guy, but I do think we need one. I believe somebody started a thread that asked the question "who will be our short yardage back?" It's a good question because we don't have one on the roster. Of the four guys on our roster, not one of them could be described as a "bigger back." At 6-foot, 235-pounds, this guy is much bigger than any of our four.

he could be,they ran a zone scheme at GT.we will see but he doesnt have much wiggle though and is slow.

Wait, you're saying that Murray doesn't run with more power than the four guys on our roster? I want to get that on the record. Maybe I'll put the quote in my footer like guys do.

I said that the revision is that Murray was a power runner. Now you are changing the subject. What you are hoping to turn the narrative into is obvious.

Randle and Williams don't shy from contact but no one we have had in quite some time fits the 'power runner' moniker. Barber was the last.

Murray would initiate contact rather than get hit but trying to act like he was trying to run through people is laughable. He was looking for creases to fall forward in like all our backs do even Dunbar. I think Randle has better leg drive but he never was featured thus never had to pace himself. Williams signature play of the preseason was trucking the LB coming off LT, keeping his feet and running for the end zone.

You're hilarious how you always interpret the motives of a poster who disagrees with you. I started this thread. You're the one who changed the subject to whether or not Murray is a power back.

I notice you kinda talked in circles around my question as to whether or not you believe any back on our roster runs with as much power as Murray. But I think you said Randle and Williams can run with as much power as Murray given the opportunity, right?

I will take a good battering ram short yardage back than a guy Dunbar who we dont even use a lot.

E. Smith was one of the leading TD scorers of his time, and he wasn't a battering ram; neither was Dorsett.

Neither was Peyton or Sayers. What they all had was great feet and balance.

Can we at least wait until TC before we start cutting people? The coaches deserve a bit of respect for their knowledge in these picks.
They don't care what our uninformed opinions are anyway.

CBS Sports has him at 6-1, 230 and running the forty in the 4.6 range, If he ran it in 4.56 before, then that's quite fast for a man of his size. What should also be of interest is whether or not he can be coached to block & catch. I haven't seen anything mentioned to that effect as yet but at least, coaching a collegiate to block isn't at all unusual.

If Days makes the team then somebody has to go ,the likely candidate is Dunbar especially since Dmac will get a lot of 3rd down carries because he can catch and pass protect very well.

I really don't think this guy is a serious candidate to unseat one of our backs.

Now Murray was this power runner. I love revisionist history.

Demarco ran with plenty of power. There is a lot of revisionist history but it isn't from the people who know he'll be missed.

The idea is that when you're a kid and waiting for Christmas, it sure takes a long time to get here.

Thus, slow as Christmas. ;)

Something's wrong with my keyboard. Keeps changing the words I type.

Yup he like to spear guys trying to tackle him in the openfield. That is illegal now btw.

How about legal plays carrying the pile and the like.

Rats - didn't see this thread until I posted mine.

Honestly - you might be right. I love Days. I don't think he's the answer, but he'll be a solid contributor on the team. And really right now, there's no running back on the roster with his power and weight.

This is my new pet cat. Since we whiffed on a RB in the draft, I am hoping and praying this guy brings what we need to the roster. That's longevity/reliability, skill, ability to stay on the field on passing downs, and the speed we need. We currently don't have it in our field of RBs but perhaps his addition changes things. I loved his response to the article about him joining the Boys from the AJC.

Words can't describe how blessed I have been in my life so far. I have to thank God, my parents, Georgia Tech, and the Dallas Cowboys organization for this opportunity. The only way this was possible is through God and he shall continue to get all the glory.
