they just interviewed owens during the lakers/ washington game. and asked owens what was going to happen with him requarding the rumors.

"im going to be a cowboy until i retire"

asked about his relationship with romo.

"thats my boy, we're going to get together and get this thing back."

I know it's just a couple of quotes, but it's nice to read this. Last year was just one frustration after another for this team and things fell apart. Despite often being self-centered and immature, we know Owens does want to win. He definitely needs to stop crying to the media - especially after winning (since that certainly makes winning seem secondary). Having said that, I didn't hear him say a whole lot after the Philly game (which was good) and it's good to hear him say "We're going to get together and get this thing back." He's at the end of his career, he wants that ring, maybe....just maybe...he'll help us win next year. I know I'm a sucker for even thinking he might mature a little bit. I'm not sold on this, but one can hope.
Oh, and this is a Cowboys fan talking - not a "hater" as I've often been accused of being with this TO crap.

He probably would say something like that. And then add the cream is getting in the way of the chocolate and vanilla swirl.

See, Owens does this to you!! He makes you feel like he's finally turned the corner and saying stuff like "Romo is my boy".."we are going to get this thing turned around" and you want to believe him so bad! and then makes you wonder " hmm Maybe THIS is the year Owens calms down and becomes a new TO". Then week 12 comes and he runs his big mouth and it's the same old story again! If I knew 100% that Owens would keep his mouth shut the whole year, I would be so down to keep him...but we all know he can't do that. Don't tease us TO!!

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Kill me now.

What's he exactly done during his time as a Cowboy to warrant this opinion? Remember Irvin? So much more dramatic, toppled by going to jail and court half the time, and doing so for stuff that NEVER had a thing to do with football- which were some of the most utter distractions this franchise has ever suffered.

Unless you think he's Superman and solely responsible for our not going to a Super Bowl since acquiring him. Other than that, he's played football and for the most part kept his mouth shut. What more do you wish?

Cut the guy a break, he's been about as loyal a Cowboy as they come. The crap he's pulled on other teams has not happen here. And that's 3 years, in the pressure cooker, too boot.

Old TO... New TO... blah blah blah...

The only time you anything about/from TO is when we are losing, when we are playing like crap.

The guy is a "hired gun"... brought in to help us win. Gotta gameplan to his strengths... let him do what he does best.

Nothing to see here. He is right for making noise.

And;.. That's good, I too hope he retires a Cowboy. My only concern is that when the time comes that he does it in a timely fashion and doesn't drag it on for longer than he can actually play at a descent level.

Curious....

Going in to his last year as Cowboy(year 6).. the year before he puts up 13 TD and 1200 yards.

Do you cut him?
(this is gonna be fun) :laugh1:

Well you gotta remember, he distracts the posters so they believe he is distracting the team...

I have no issue with Owens staying I think he helps to make us a better team, I could do with a bit less drama between him and the media.

Of course he will retire a Cowboy. Let's review:
  • He's nearing the end of his career
  • He signed a very lucrative contract with Dallas which was then extended, so he's not exactly hurting for cash
  • If he did consider playing beyond his Cowboys days, the number of potential suitors would be both limited and may not even be teams which he would desire playing for
  • While controversial, he is also a charismatic celebrity who's future in front of a camera will not end after he has called it a career
  • His already accumulated numbers will certainly place him in the Pro Football Hall of Fame (although the Hall will mostly likely capitalize SAN FRANCISCO as the team he was most associated with during his career)
So, the question really isn't IF he will retire a Cowboy. The real question is when.
