Why can't Terrell Owens just shut his pie-hole and play football as if the entire game/world didn't revolve around him. :bang2:

With his production? If it wasn't for his mouth you wouldn't know he was even in the games.:)

Really? No kidding? This is quite a revelation.

Why is that?

Good grief people....it's what the guy wants and has set himself up for.....

You may as revel in it, as he is.....and quite complaining about the big bad media....

Dude, drop the hate, and step back and take a look.

He does things that others do, he says things like others say, things happen to him that happen to many many other players.

The difference is nobody is following them around with cameras and microphones disseecting their every move.

Can you not recognize that ?

Set himself up for? The media obviously can't let the past be the past.

Since Philly axed him, what has he done wrong?

He signed with Dallas, came to camp, hurt his hamstring, bad reaction to the meds, been frustrated with losing...

That's it. The guy has pretty much just shut up and done what he's supposed to do: practice and play. Sure knock his on-field/in-game stuff: dropped passes and alligator arms. But the rest of the time the guy's done nothing. The fact that it seems a bunch of the guys in the lockerroom support him says that they see a side of Terrell that ESPN doesn't show us.

Look at the news headlines for the NFL. Look at all the players that have gotten into some kind of trouble so far this year, be it for drugs, assaults, etc. Owens isn't killing the game or his team the way ESPN would have you believe.

Heck, Bengals have had WAY more problems than Dallas but because it's Dallas and it's Terrell Owens, we're front page, they're a page 3 blurb.

Hilarious. I'll just guess the 'drop the hate' thing is one of those instances when someone has no clue as to what I'm talking about, and instead, hands out one of those well rehearsed lines. But I'll give you credit, you didn't use the term agenda, at least not yet.

I'm the one that can't recognize what's happening? Are you serious? I, along with others here, predicted this is exactly what would happen. It's not a matter as to if I agree with or not, (and I don't) it's that I expected it to happen. So color me not surprised, not astonished, not, GASP, mortified as to the treatment he's getting. I've seen this show before. It's all very predictable.

I'm sorry you're so steeped in naivity. Anyone tell you life's not fair? Grow up for gosh sakes, there's a real world awaiting outside your Madden06.

I never said he did anything wrong. Do point out where I did, and I don't mean in your mind.

Heck yes he's set himself up for all this. He's spent a career calling attention to himself to make himself the story, 24/7. And now he is(got popcorn?), and we are just sooooo appalled at the fuss.

ESPN has me believing nothing, nobody in the media has me believing anything at all. I don't wait with baited breath for every single snippet they have to provide. I surely don't get my panties in a bunch everytime a story comes down the line, and certainly don't feel the need to piss and moan on a message board about media bias.

He wants the attention, Jerry wants the attention, and they got it and don't seem to have a problem with it.

It's what happens between the lines every Sunday I'll hang my hat on, everything else only bothers me as much as I let it.

Very good post. I agree the media goes over board on TO but then again TO has been a media hound for most of his career. What's the old saying you play with the Bull and you will get the horn. I have no issues with TO right now and like you I don't hang on every word coming out of the media about TO. All I care about is how he handles himself in Dallas and has the support of the other players.

I used the 'drop the hate' thing because it is obvious that you were one of those that hated Owens before he came to Dallas.

The fact that he has done nothing to hate since he has been here reveals the 'haters' like a flashlight in the dark.

I'm the one that can't recognize what's happening? Are you serious? I, along with others here, predicted this is exactly what would happen. No, the people who predicted things predicted that he would do what he did in Philly and SF. He has not.
Nobody pedicted that no matter what he did, that he would be villified by the media.

Talk about well rehearsed lines.

Funny for you to tell me to grow up since I have probably been watching football since you were in diapers.

Listen, I love the Cowboys and if Owens does something against our team or organization I will be the first to call him on it.

Until then I will only respond to what I see is actually happening and not get sucked in to the media crap.

Somebody needs to hold the media accountable to at least report the truth.

That can't be too much to expect.

Actually, TO has never gotten THIS MUCH attention from the media before. In the past, he had to do something or say something. Now that he is a Dallas Cowboy, the media is actually creating stories where there are none. I don't think his past attention-grabbing antics justify what is being done to him now. I really don't. There are other flamboyant players who don't get this treatment. Look at Chad Johnson, he's basically TO Jr., but he's a media darling, complete with commercials celebrating his self-indulgence. However, TO is somehow public enemy #1. The devil himself. Yeah, we all knew that publicity follows this guy, but until he joined America's Team, that publicity was always based on the truth. Or was it?

I agree they... the media, tend to over-exaggerate what Terrell does and says. The guy wants to be the best and he wants his team to be the best. All the greats dont like to lose and have frustrations. Ya he handles it differently but his main objective is to be great and you cant be great on a weak team so he wants his team to be great.

I am rooting for Owens to prove them all wrong, .. but I am not sure the media will ever let that happen.

They did with Keyshawn. No doubt the media covers him with baited breath but he gives them what they want.

And if he doesn't, they just print something else to stir the pot.

It is well documented that you hated him before he got to Dallas, and like the media, you will always feel that way no matter what he does or does not do while in Dallas.

I get it.

Later Dooms.

I am no fan of TO but I have also not made a big deal out of what took place on the sidelines and even defended TO over that. I also commented that he handled himself well during the post game conference after the Philly game. What I don't agree on is the big bad media will continue to pick on him, you’re making that a 1 way street and the truth is it is not TO invites a lot of the problems he has had. Maybe you’re just walking around with blinders on, other players have caught the wrath of the media but once they stop playing the game with the media things can improve such as how they talk about Keyshawn now compared to how they talked of him in the past. I think your being over sensitive about TO.

Uhhh, yes, there were some people(including myself) that said in the very beginning no matter what the guy did he'd be tracked down like a movie star.

Just because you don't remember make it false.

And now that it is indeed happening, it doesn't hurt you to be wrong in thinking it wouldn't be so, a bit naive maybe, but your venom towards the people that were right in this instance makes me wonder exactly who it is that is still in daipers.

And what did Keyshawn do? He produced. He blocked down field (like I've seen Owens doing). Keyshawn was the guy that would go across the middle anytime they needed it. But did he get respect for the plays he made? NO, he made headlines for the angry looks and yelling on the sideline (which wasn't all that common).

Whether they've invited the scrutiny in the past or not, I think the media does go after them b/c they're sure ratings. Like Owens said, if he shuts his mouth and stays quiet, Tom Jackson or somebody in the media would give him **** saying that he's withdrawing from the team, that he's selfish, etc... the guy just can't win

Well here's another heads up for you. It's not going to stop, it will always be this way with him.

Too bad you couldn't see this all coming....

And your 'middle school' comment...if we check back, we'll see it's you that brought the daiper analogy into this. So I'll see you at school little fella, that is, if you can come out from under the covers hiding from that big bad media monster.

<<<I agree but the differance is TO past reputation. I would also say Jeremy Shockey is building a reputation as well and I see more in the media talking about him the same as they do TO.>>>

I agree that the diffference is that Owens has a track record. He's light years in front of Shockey, record wise. His Nomad-like trek from team to team leaving a trail of destruction in his wake, has naturally piqued the interest of the football world. Shockey can't hold T.O.s jock(ey) strap in that regard. Destruction I mean. When Shockey's first team goes down in flames, he may be worthy of mention.
