just some news... werent we interested in him when he was drafted or was that the other guy they got that year?

The kid got OWNED last night against the Iggles. I'm happy with our own D-backs.

SS

I think Dallas had some mild interest in Joey Thomas who was drafted by the Packers. He was cut, picked up by NO and cut there as well.

From most accounts, Carroll has been a bust waiting to happen for awhile.

Wow, as a Hog fan, I never would have thought that he would fail this bad. Batman Carroll, least that is what he was known as at Arkansas, was one of my more favorite Hogs.

Hate to see this happen to him, hopefully he can get it together and be successful somewhere.

He's been owned every game he has played. Despite that, he talks smack to opposing WRs the entire game. I guess by the 4th quarter he's got to bust out gems like "Score 4 TDs against me! Awww, Hell No! Nobody puts up 24 points on Batman!"

I always like taking chances on players, maybe our coaches could help him out more than the Packers coaches who haven't been able to develop anyone at any position.

He would make an interesting 4th or 5th corner and return guy.

Except that our 4th and 5th corners can already play, and we don't need a return guy.

I still wouldn't mind taking a chance on Joey Thomas. But Ahmad Carroll? No Thanks, the guy flat out stinks.

Every time I see this guy play he not only gets abused but looks lost as if corner isn't his natural position. He's consistently getting penalized and abused.

I haven't really seen Carroll play this season (I Tivo'd last night's game and have watched only Philly's defense so far), but based on film review by K.C. Joyner and Football Outsiders, he wasn't that bad last season. He gave up some big plays, but he didn't allow a high success rate and he wasn't targeted very often. His numbers were better than a lot of highly regarded cornerbacks (Lito Sheppard, for example). If Carroll's attitude isn't a problem, he probably could be successful in a good system or at least as a nickel back.

Brilliant.

When you're getting consistently owned by Greg Lewis, it's time to go.

This is his third year.

Is that better or worse than releasing your 2nd round pick in his 2nd year?

We may have wanted him at one time..the Eagles targeted him last night and just beat him senseless. Greg Lewis scored the first two NFL touchdowns of his life off Carrol.

the guy is terrible- think dwayne goodrich- without the manslaughter conviction of course.

Intersting. I guess everyone is accountable for their own performance in Green Bay except for Brett Favre.
