Frees up a 90s number for our first round pick. It's all about marketing. Jerry doesn't want our first round edge rusher to have to wear a 60s or 70s number because it won't sell jerseys. Jerry is very involved in players numbers. Dez wanted #10 until Jerry convinced him to go with a legacy number in 88. Same with Gregory and 94.

I hate it when they give the numbers of former great players to unproven scrubs. Rolando should have had 55 retired.

I figure the moment Rolando makes his comeback, Paea will fall back and immediately relinquish it so that Rolando can continue building his legacy as a Cowboy in the right #.

Interesting thought. Might indeed be the case.

Changed his number from 97 to 55 when he started working out at the star this week. I know people don't care but it's good to know for when minicamp starts and all you see running around are numbers.

I know he was 54 at Oregon St. - maybe it's a superstitious thing.

Didn't realize that, pretty interesting. But not even Dez can deny the effect that 88 has had from a marketing perspective. I mean it fits perfectly into the Throw Up The X thing.

I also think Helman said that there was some discussion that Zeke could wear 22 but that was nixed. I can't remember if it was Jerry or Zeke pushing for 22 though.
