The fact that the Skins now have a semi-competent GM worries me much more than Shanahan.

Yep.

Danny's Cerrato-Allen move yesterday was a big deal, whether Cowboy fans would like to admit it or not. That's a step in the right direction for the Commanders.

Meanwhile, Dallas' GM is trying to lure a boxing match to his stadium. "It would be a spectacle," he says.

The NFL has become an offense-minded league. We need an offensive minded head coach to help Romo in his important years as a pro. The defensive coordinator at head coach has failed, it's time to go in another direction.

What has Shanny ever really done? Seems people think he's some great coach. How long did it take for him to get success?

He's np big deal, and I hope he does not come to Dallas...let the Skins have him. I would rather have a coach with two eyes.

;)

That argument has been used many time over the years as each season produces certain rules that favor the offense but the results do not show that offensive coaches have any big advantages Belicheck and Cowher both were defesive coaches as was Dungy before taking over as HC. Even former Cowboys Coach Jimmy Johnson was a defensive coach before landing a job as a HC.

He also said Gruden was with espn next year.

Where does that leave us?? Cowher? Garrett? College coach?

probably a hot assistant....not a college coach since Jerry thinks this team is close. not cowher. Jerry still wants a puppet. not a parcells type. Jerry hasn't run the team to the ground as he did the last time, so until then we will continue with some other puppet.

I dont think thats going to do much for them honestly IMO. Unless snyder gives full control to shanny. They will improve again then something will happen and they will fall off like they did in 08

Not that I want Shanahan or anything, but why would any top-tier coaching candidate out there make any decision until they see what Jerry's going to do? Wouldn't it be smart to wait on all the major players so you have people to bargain with and bid one against the other?

And, don't get too excited about the Allen hiring, either. It's not like anybody was hot to get him on their staff at any point this year. Smacks of another Joe Gibbs type nostalgia PR hiring to curry favor with the huddled masses. No way Snyder's changing his ways.

The reason someone like Shanny or Homlgren would probably not consider on waiting to se what Jerry's doing is the idea that if they want a title that includes team president, GM or director of player personnel they are NOT going to get it from Jerry Jones and they know it...so why waste the time waiting on him if another offer is on the table to give them good money and the titles they want.

Coach\GM has not worked out to well for many coaches.

Pete Carrol has coached in the NFL before...has run a successful program at USC...and may be ready finally for a new challenge.

Yeah, who wants those coaches who takes multiple franchises to Superbowls (and if it's so easy, why don't you list for me all the coaches who have taken multiple franchises to Superbowls) ?

Especially when you can have the coach who takes the most physically talented team in college football to The Emerald Bowl. Can't wait to bring in the modern version of Barry Switzer back to the NFL. Actually, that's not correct. Switzer actually turned his perennial top recruiting classes into a perennial powerhouse program. Carroll loses to a Stanford or Oregon State every year because he just doesn't feel like coaching his players up that particular week.

Is a new thread going to be started about this everytime someone on TV or radio mentions Shanahan's name?

If he goes there so be it...some of you have no spine whatsoever and think "oh God!!! The Commanders have this guy or that guy, we're doomed!!!!" every freaking yr.

Shanahan isnt the only good coach who was/will be available, there are others. And I dont see his name on any Lombardi's the past 10 yrs anyway.

If he was truly interested in coming to Dallas, he'd wait until we were eliminated. If he can wait until January something to take the Skins job, he can wait for us.

Right now we are looking to win games not hire a new coach. That is where we are.
Agreed. We still have a legitimate shot at the playoffs. That should be where the team's focus lies. Once we get in (if we get in) anything can happen.

Plus I would rather Garrett be the HC as opposed to Shanahan. Don't want him anywhere near our team.

I'd rather win the whole damn thing and not worry about replacing any coaches and rebuilding the team
