And gets it from me. I definitely wanted to bench Bledsoe, but I never thought Parcells would have the guts to do it. I don't think it has been commented enough how hard this must have been for Parcells - he is a loyal coach, and especially has a respect for Bledsoe. He has hitched his wagon to Bledsoe quite a bit, both in NE and here, and no doubt it was a tough personal decision to do this.

However, Parcells showed me that he DOES in fact see some things at the QB position, a fact that i seriously doubted, and has made a decision based on play. I have no idea how Romo will play - no one does, but Parcells gets a big thumbs up from me for making a tough decision, even if a few games late.
I totally give him credit for making the move.I didn't think he had the guts to do it either. The sad thing is he couldn't even handle that correctly. He sent Chris Palmer to tell him he was being benched. If he has all this respect for Bledsoe,as we all thought,he should have had the guts to do it himself. The guy is a completely classless and total ***.

some of you people, just can't give credit where credit is due. Now, Bill has made some mistakes with this team and still is, mainly not having a very good staff. But you can't dismiss the talent he has brought to this team, we are in great shape right now.. except maybe a few positions. He IS a great talent evaluation guy.. and is respected around the league for it, If Bill says they can play, they can,, if he says they can't,, no team wants them. Look at Henson for an example if you need one.

Now I fault Bill for his lack of bringing in the best coach's out there to help this team win.. but not for his personall decisions,, not one of them.
How about the personnel decisions he has made,or lack there of,in the offensive line. The biggest problem with this team. There is no way he gets a free pass on personnel decisions.

what has Delhomme done without Steve Smith....he's just a guy. They'd better hope the hammies hold up.

Brees was a gamble for the Saints that paid off.
He's not just another guy.He is one of the better QB's in the NFL,and it was a mistake not signing him.He has taken his team to 1 super bowl, and 2 NFC championship games.Oh,by the way,he had his best year, the year steve smith was hurt.He threw for 29 td's,and 15int.Also had his biggest year for yards, and that team was more riddled with injuries,on both sides of the ball, then any other team in the league.

You made my point. He should have signed Delhomme or Brees or drafted someone- we have not had a QB since Aikman. Parcells is old, time has passed.

I have read some things about the Delhomme situation that might help make the situation clearer.

Per this source, Delhomme asked for an extra million after Coach Parcells had basically had a deal in place. And that led to the breakoff in talks and his subsequent signing in Carolina.

At any rate, true or not, he did ask for more than we were prepared to pay (right or wrong) and if this is true, that's very bad especially if you had already agreed to a deal with the head coach in preliminary talks.

We did take a very discounted approach to Delhomme, but also got blindsided in free agency by several others in the first two years of the Parcells regime who were not giving a discount (the other player that comes to mind is Bert Berry). In our defense, we did just come off a 10-6 record and still amazingly thought Quincy Carter or Chad Hutchinson could be our starter in the case of Delhomme.

I just thought I would throw this out there as food for thought since the Delhomme Gambit was brought up again.

Parcells wanted him, they invited him to Dallas, and they had agreed to a deal. But when Jake came here he asked for another million, thats when Bill said NO
Didn't Carolina only sign him for about $500,000 more than what we offered him?

Could be. Like I said, I read it elsewhere.

Money is money and a deal is a deal. If he told Coach Parcells he wanted to be a Cowboy and then asked for more money, that's a bit of a problem.

they were talking on WFAN monday that Delhomme shook down tuna/jerry for $1mil after having come to terms and both of them refused and let him leave unsigned. obviously it was a mistake in terms of QB talent but it's tough to get held hostage like that... sends a terrible message to the next guy and the next guy.
