Parcells Retirement scoop

BadKarma said:
I'm starting to sense this could be Parcells' last year. He appears to elude the "retirement" question and never comes out and gives a direct answer. Just seems odd he doesn't refute the questions unequivocally.

I say we let Parcells answer the question when he is ready as opposed to when we want him to.

FOr the record I too think he is hanging them up. I said the other day it sounded way to much like someone who was getting ready to bail. You would think he would at least outright deny it. As Mort said the other night, "You notice he didn't deny it." And if it's true that Jerry offered him an extension and he denied that it was offered, then there is no doubt he is out of here as soon as the season is over.

Scoff them all you want. I scooped the 18,000 square foot house being completed now....

This will get national play. Dallas reporters are lazy.

Outside of the house he's had built which has been common knowledge for some time, talk of his retirement is conjecture. His girlfriend said during the summer she thought he would coach 2 more years before this season.

Obviously that doesn't mean he will coach next year, but to say he won't is presumptious at best.

have from very reliable sources that Parcells has been building a home in Saratoga NY.

This news has been out for over a year now.

Wow, what a great "source".

Parcells is a member of the local Country Club there and loves the ponies.

I am pro Parcells staying as our coach but after talking to the local guy there - Parcells may be retiring!

Right...that is pretty much common knowlege.

That is why Mike Rhyner of the Hard Line has been ripping him because he jokes around and says Parcells just needed some more money after his divorce was over to build that new house.

Like I have said, much to the shigrin of many, dont be surprised if Parcells walks away.

I know we all think the bueatiful Cowboys are different, but Parcells is a East Coast guy and has no loyalty to any team.

How is common knowledge a scoop?

The sun will rise in the East, you heard it here first.

Do the legwork I did THIS WEEK.... You lazy bastids

Its your JOB

Nope.

The writers in Dallas are really not great...they always get out-scooped by National Newspapers on every damn thing.

Im still PO'ed about the QC story...

hate to tell you, but his house in N.Y. is no scoop! Everyone knows that. The funny thing is everyone thinks they know what Parcells is thinking. That is what is so great about him. None of us have any idea. It is all conjecture and last time I looked we have a game to play this weekend! That is what counts. Everything else will happen the same no matter what we think

Again, I never understand this thinking?

What exactly do you think fans on an Internet Messageboard are going to be talking about...how great Tuna looks in his Cowboys Sweater?

This is a very hot topic and will come up again again and again until Parcells retires.

Just about everything we discuss on this message board means very little in the whole scheme of things....but we talk about all aspects because we love our team.

Man, I really dont get this...unfortunately I am seeing this type of post come up more and more...

Maybe it is the drama of the season and the possibility of missing the playoffs is people a little uptight :p: .

It's been talked about since he first signed on.

He deserves it. Although he has done much I haven't agreed with especially with the QB situation he has put us in a better position certainly on defense for the future and brought in some potential stars all over the field. He deserves to be able to walk away with some grace should he choose to as a 64 year old man..hope we win the last one for him at least and if by some miracle we get into the playoffs and have a good showing I don't know if those retirement papers wouldn't go away for 1 more year.

A quick Google search gets you this:

From October 2005

Coach Parcells hasn't completely forsaken his Northeastern roots. He is currently building a vacation home overlooking Saratoga National Golf Club in upstate New York.

From Schefter in April 2005:

And when that happens, it's time to give more thought than ever to the retirement house that Parcells has being built in Saratoga, N.Y., no farther from the racetrack there than a good Julius Jones run.

Parcells is at an interesting point in his life. He's going to live in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., near the famed racetrack, in a new house he's having built, when he retires from the Cowboys. I say that's at least a year away, and Parcells' friends think he'll stay in Dallas for the full four years of the contract he signed with Jerry Jones 23 months ago. Whatever, Parcells will coach next year. His life here is pretty simple. Coaching, lots of chats with Jones, maybe dinner out Friday night at an Italian place he likes, maybe some trips to the see the Rangers or their visitors during the baseball season, a trip to Florida after the football season, and his old Northeast haunts for a few weeks before training camp.

So, he completed a house that has been in the works for at least a year? Uh, isn't it inevitable that it gets completed at some point?

BP: "Yeah, you guys just hold off finishing that until I am about to retire."

What a scoop! You sleuth. I can't believe the lazy news media hasn't plastered this in 4 inch letters on the front page.

What happened to you Nors? I was right there with you when you said Parcells is staying, then you go and waffle on me. :(

FYI...this 18,000 sq. ft. house stuff has already gone "national" before. Down here, it's old news already. Stick to your guns! He's staying at least another year!!

The real scoop is BP likes to make money.
He wants an extension that pays alot.
He refers a lot in his press conferences to his salary being good but his job being hard.
The money isn't necessarily for him but to secure his kids famailies and whatnot. Seeing as he was never around for them much least he can do is leave a legacy in gold.

He will likely want to be the highest paid coach in the league.
He is a good talent evaluator and gameday coach.
He has improved the talent on the team a great deal.
Jerry Jones is now the good guy to many after being the bad, bad GM who who couldn't pick a decent draftee is his life depended upon it.

The house thing is no biggie.
BP will live in it eventually and surely leave it to family after he passes.
He came here with Carthon in tow but it doesn't seem he has a hand-picked successor on his staff. I'd take that as a sign he plans to carry on at least another year. He has been watching some college games as we can tell by his USC OL comments thus he is planning on improving the team in the off-season.

BP has options but his first choice is to be money-whipped into another 3 year deal IMHO.

Congrats, your "source" gave you a scoop that only about 75% of us all around the country already knew about.

We're going to have to start calling you Raisin Bran because you got 2 scoops.

Is this the same guy that told you Ty Law was coming to Dallas?

Nope -

My Pats contact is solid and not in on this.

I know a person in the Saratoga area that told me about Parcells mansion recently being completed.....

Did he also tell you that he started it 2 years ago. It's right down the road from me so tell the whole story.

If you throw enough spaghetti at the wall.........

In the end, you hope the rest only remember what sticks.......

...but in actuality.......we remember.

So which one is it Nors? Is he staying or is he going?

I sure hope he signs the RUMORED extension the Jerry Jones has not offered.
