Parcells to make decision in hours?

I heard on ESPN Radio that Jerry said that Parcells will make his decision in the coming hours, or at the latest, the coming days. Anyone else hear this timetable.
No matter what, he'll always be that fat bastid coach of the Giants.

<tic>?????

I'm sure there are plenty of coaches who could have got better than 9-7 (or 10-6 if you feel like the team didn't bother with the Rams) with the talent on this team.

You know, it's just like I read somewhere this morning, this year to year drama with Parcells is what drove Kraft batty. So what if he returns this year it's obvious we will be looking for his replacement next year.

That is no way to provide stability to a franchise.

Rumors are flying everywhere, but I do suspect we will know something shortly. Adam Shefter called into the local sports station here (sports talk 950AM) and said that Parcells received a very compelling offer from NBC to be a part of their Sunday night package (he didn't say in what capacity). I think Bill will return, but I would not be surprised to see him walk as early as this weekend.

Great way to rebuild a team huh?

I agree with what some of you have said. What's the difference if Parcells leaves this year or next? I don't really see one unless you think this team will have the talent to make it to the Super Bowl and Parcells is the only one who can coach this team to it.

However, I don't think that's the case.

We do need to know what his decision is as soon as possible. None of this, "I want to take my time and be sure my heart is in it." bullcrap. We can't be left out to dry after all the other good coaches have been picked up.

If I were Jerry, I would set a deadline by the end of this week for Bill's decision. Stay or go.

Parcells should be on the Young and the Restless, not the Dallas Cowboys. Gimme a break. Its a freaking GAME. No need to take a psycholigical evaluation after every season.....

Its not like there are any good coaches currently unemployed

if Parcells leaves....HELLO 4th place NFC East! We're all familiar with how it felt with our 5 or so consecutive (5-11) seasons. Man, this sucks.
Considering we are currently 3rd only because of more injuries to Philly than we could ever endure, who's to say 4h wasn't a real possibility anyway.

Still waiting...Wish I had a snickers bar...

TheSkaven,
Thanks for sharing that tidbit. I hadn't heard that and it is very interesting. That's a twist to the story that we haven't discussed.
Hopefully we have an answer very soon.

Yeah, poor Kraft. Look what he did to his organization. I also thought it was the issue about "buying some of the groceries."

Even if he returns this year, it's quite possible he could sign an extension as well, so we may not be looking for one.

Yes, JJ is the eternal optimist, which is probably a great balance with the eternal pessimist in Parcells, but the fact that he's pointing out that BP maybe making his decision within the day tells me that he is staying.

To me, it seems the anti-Cowboys groups are out in full force trying to pull BP away from coaching the team, the best coach we've had in years and one of the best coaches ever.

I personally think Bill is going to stay. I honestly believe he's never really contemplated retirement and knowing how ESPN works, somebody found out that Jerry offered Bill a contract extension and Bill didn't know if he wanted to sign it or not, but still plans to coach the team the next year. Therefore, some "source" probably jumped the gun and assumed since Bill didn't sign the extension, he's must be contemplating retirement.

Rich........

I try to remain objective not to be too much of a homer, but this team was looking real good early in the season.
Dallas didn't really dominate the 'skins in the 1st game, but easily played well enough to win until the final two minutes.
Dallas did mostly dominate the top team in the NFC, Seattle, at Seattle for most of the game.
Dallas hung with one of the top teams in the AFC, Denver, and lost a squeaker in OT.
Dallas beat some very good teams along the way as well.
I think this year's team was fairly good, better than 9-7 with better game-day coaching and rational o-line/kicker/long snapper decisions in the offseason.

Wow, we post here because we are anti-Cowboys fans !!!

I don't speak for all, just myself.

1st and foremost I have been a Cowboys fans sine 1971 and have never wavered.

2nd, don't you just love people that if you disagree with them, they call you anti-Cowboy fans...lol

3rd, I want stability for my team (Amazing that I want that, being an anti-Cowboys fan). So, I have stated over and over...I'd like to see BP sign an extension, I don't agree with all he has done here...and loved a lot of what he has done. Point is, sign an extension or leave. Or were back to a new coach again in 2007.

I belive an offensive system has to be put in place and run by the same core of players for a few years to really take hold. If BP does not sign an extension then we will have a different offensive system in 2007, basically starting from scratch. If that is BP's plan, then leave now...if he wants to finish what he started, then sign an extension.

I want this for the better of the Dallas Cowboys, if you disagree, fine...We all have our opinions.

For the record, I don't think YOU are anti_Cowboys if you disagree...I think you just disagree.

Okay SultanOfSix, back to your regular forum bashing...

Um, Jarv, "anti-Cowboys' fan" is a term that I use to describe people who seem to have more passion hating the Cowboys than rooting for their own team. When I mentioned the term, it was with respect to those people in the media who propagate as "news" unsubstantiated - well, that's what I call "anonymous sources", or "we hear from someone close", etc. - hearsay to fit their own agendas, promoting news that would be considered detrimental to the Cowboys.

It has nothing to do with anyone on this forum who are real Cowboys fans, and I never bashed this forum, nor have I felt one inkling of a need to.

i have a term for people who only see things their way and belittle the thoughts of others with negative commentary like "anti-fan" when they're obviously a fan, but i think hos and company might not like me using those words in here.

it's a small mind that resorts to "you're not a fan if you don't root for whoever is flung on the field!" and those pre-teen messages just get old.
