Parcells was suppose to be clearing up coaching spots, what is he really doing?

Hey Guys, Parcells stayed in Dallas to clear up his coaching vacant spots, we havent heard anything except Palmer coming in, then going to NO and getting signed, so what is Parcells really doing? Goofing off? To me, if he wasnt going to get coaches to fill vacancies, he should have been at the Senior Bowl looking at prospects for the upcoming draft. Even Jerry Jones had to fly back to Dallas to meet Palmer, so why couldnt parcells been at senior bowl and looking at draft, we need at least one more good super draft, not one like when we drafted julious jones, still can be a good player, Jacob Rogers whom scouts told him not to take, and Stephen Peterman whom hasnt really played in a game yet during regular season.
I admit I was high on Peterman, but still have hopes for him, he had surgery on his ankle, so he could have been hurting this year. So, to me, Parcellls needs to get off his duff, and get to work and get our coaches assigned. To me you should go after Mike Tice, let him help coach our offensive line,, and TE's, since the TE coach seems like Pasq......... is going to be moved to linebackers coach, he was a good linebackers coach before he became head coach.
Yeah i know some of you guys arent high on Mike Tice, but he was a former TE during pro career, and he helped teach young offensive lineman on practice squads to become good players on offensive line. To me maybe Tice could help our young offensive tackles like Petti and Tucker, maybe Greounde, and Peterman too. Also, I think you guys see that Parcells isnt really good on drafting offensive lineman, but to me Mike Tice is, if Parcells would use him in that regards along with scouts and Irelands suggestions.
Dont get me wrong, I like Parcells, just one thing makes me upset, his determining players to play with pain, when they should really get another week of rest, take Anthony Henry this year, and Stephen Peterman his first year in preseason, was hurt, he even made a knockout block on a running play, he motioned to come out, but Parcells threw a fit and sent him back out there, then he tore up his knee, on a extra point try.

While the original post was a bit over the top, you would have to feel if this week comes and goes and we still have nothing finalized on the coaching front, it is a bit of a waste.

If we come out of the first week of February and filled all of our openings internally, it will indeed be a huge waste.

You can laugh at the guy, but I am starting to wonder just what the heck hes got up his sleeve. I mean anyone that was sorta good, that the board could rally round is gone. I was not sold on Palmer even, but I was willing to see what he had. But now I have to watch NO to find out.

Its really a mystery that he kept the coach incharge of the worst unit on our squad. The Oline coach? He woulda been the first one I fired. Unless he made a miracle getting as much as we got from the oline, then the scouts need to be fired. I cant believe thats the best he could get out of that line. So its gotta be the coaching sucks.

I will hold my tongue a bit longer and see what Parcells shakes out of the trees. but I am not holding my breath at this point, for anything other then another 'yes man'. What we really need are coaches that can coach and get along with Parcells and Jones, even if they dont like em. Your not married to the guy, you just work for him.

I am starting to thionk we are spinning our wheels again, ala 2004. We have a lot of areas to improve upon, and coaching is certainly one of them. We have 2 holes to fill on the staff. Granted, he could be waiting for a steeler or seachicken coach, but he needs to put the bus in gear and start moving forward soon.

I'm sure BP was watching film of all the college athletes from the year that are coming out. That was what he did a couple of years ago, not to metion that I am sure he is looking at what FA's that are going to be available in March.

I think he trusts the scouts enough to listen to their evaluation of players. Besides, film study on these players is just as valuable. I believe they film the Senior Bowl practices anyway, so he can look that them at the ranch was well.

As far as OC, I don't think he would bring in a guy that would totally revamp the offense with a new scheme and terminology. Besides, I think he will be calling the plays again next season like he did his first two years.

I've read in various sources (legitimate, not rumors) that he was extending contracts for various ACs. With the departures of 2, he's probably revamping some duties. It's also safe to guess, since he's done it every other year, that he's looking at film on both potential FAs & draft picks. He's also drawing up schedules for the year--when to bring in players, minicamps, etc. (these are all things he's talked about in past PCs about what he does). It's also entirely possible that he's actually talking to the scouting department about their impressions of the players at the Senior Bowl, plus reviewing film of the previous day. (Quick thought--since the Senior Bowl is presumably for, um, SENIORS, & there are a lot of underclassmen who don't attend, that Parcells not being there isn't the end of the world. Pretty safe to think that perhaps Jeff Ireland is there, & that Parcells trusts him.) Hmm, he may even be reviewing plays from this past season--what worked, what didn't--& starting to make some revisions. Maybe looking at the list of OUR players who could be FAs & talking to Jerry about who should be re-signed.

Another thought--since the Senior Bowl is being held this week, at least 2 other HCs aren't there (Cowher & Holmgren). Does that mean they're bad HCs? (Let's also remember that Holmgren has been with the Seahawks for SEVEN years before winning even 1 postseason game. Are people willing to be that patient with Parcells?) I doubt their teams are going to have losing seasons next year because they didn't attend the Senior Bowl.

Why would it be a waste of time if Parcells spent considerable time evaluating all his options and then chose the internal one?

Just because someone is already playing a role on your staff doesn't mean its a snap decision to know how they compare to other options in their potential new role.

Yeah Parcells was goofing off. He probably threw a party while Jerry was out of town, I sure hope he got Valley Ranch cleaned up befoRE jERRY GOT HOME.

As for Petermans injury. The knee injury occured on the opposite leg that was hurt. So even though Parcells kept him out there it was not the same leg that got hurt.

so you want Parcells and Co to rush into things? personally, I want Parcells to be comfortable making a move after doing all his research, and determining the best candidate, that takes a little bit of time

how so? because it doesn't look great on paper? maybe some of his assistants really showed him something this year coaching the players? there's alot of variables you have to think about, now think about how many Parcells has to consider

I agree with that, coaches need to coach, or maybe like our offensive line coach, thats the best they could get out of Petti and Tucker.

Yet, some of that falls on the players too, remember in the offesason conditioning that Tucker was fat and out of shape, and he was the first one to run off the field. Players have to want to play first.

Just like dont know why we did, but we resigned fat Willie Blade. Even he after going to the Jacquars team, complained about Parcells wanting to much, and he didnt have to work out anymore, but just play. Boy, did he get a wake up call, To me thats part of the problem with some of the players, some dont want to put an all out effort in off seasoning conditioning.

So, maybe the problem is a mixed problem, some players not having desire to play, improve, along with good coaching.
