It amazes me how fans can even suggest BP is a slacker. Various reports put his work schedule at around 16 hours a day, 7 days a week. And he expects the same from his assistants. I mean the guy was PO'ed about the league moving a game later in the day because he likes to get back from the game and study film for 8 hours or so before bed. I really don't think that guys who put in a full workday after coaching a game are lazy.

I'm sure BP was watching film of all the college athletes from the year that are coming out. That was what he did a couple of years ago, not to metion that I am sure he is looking at what FA's that are going to be available in March.

I think he trusts the scouts enough to listen to their evaluation of players. Besides, film study on these players is just as valuable. I believe they film the Senior Bowl practices anyway, so he can look that them at the ranch was well.

As far as OC, I don't think he would bring in a guy that would totally revamp the offense with a new scheme and terminology. Besides, I think he will be calling the plays again next season like he did his first two years.

:hammer:

and what happened to the love for Jeff Ireland? that's why Parcells didn't go to the Senior Bowl, he sent a more than capable set of eyes in Ireland

Let's see.

I've read in various sources (legitimate, not rumors) that he was extending contracts for various ACs. With the departures of 2, he's probably revamping some duties. It's also safe to guess, since he's done it every other year, that he's looking at film on both potential FAs & draft picks. He's also drawing up schedules for the year--when to bring in players, minicamps, etc. (these are all things he's talked about in past PCs about what he does). It's also entirely possible that he's actually talking to the scouting department about their impressions of the players at the Senior Bowl, plus reviewing film of the previous day. (Quick thought--since the Senior Bowl is presumably for, um, SENIORS, & there are a lot of underclassmen who don't attend, that Parcells not being there isn't the end of the world. Pretty safe to think that perhaps Jeff Ireland is there, & that Parcells trusts him.) Hmm, he may even be reviewing plays from this past season--what worked, what didn't--& starting to make some revisions. Maybe looking at the list of OUR players who could be FAs & talking to Jerry about who should be re-signed.

Another thought--since the Senior Bowl is being held this week, at least 2 other HCs aren't there (Cowher & Holmgren). Does that mean they're bad HCs? (Let's also remember that Holmgren has been with the Seahawks for SEVEN years before winning even 1 postseason game. Are people willing to be that patient with Parcells?) I doubt their teams are going to have losing seasons next year because they didn't attend the Senior Bowl.

Nah, I'm sure he's sitting home eating bon-bons until the draft. Not a care in the world.

I am a Parcells backer. I see what hes done so far. I see how far we have to go. I just see good coaching getting away. Course thats not to say Parcells cant find a great coach somewhere down the road.

I will watch. I hope the draft is twice as good to us this year as it was last year. But theres a nagging doubt in the back of mind, like whys he dragging his feet? Sorta like when you have a history of being lazy and you dont jump to do something, pple assume you are just being lazy again right now. Thats sorta the feeling I have, like uh oh, is this the Parcells that was fooled by 2003 or is the the Parcells that knows what needs to be done and has a plan to get us there? I dont know. Inactivity leads to blind speculation?

"when in doubt bash Parcells" seem to be the new slogan here

Who should be blamed ?

Nope, when the "Best coach in the leauge" miss's the playoffs 2 outta 3 years. You ask questions of the front office and coach.

I wasnt implying that Parcells was lazy. I know that he studies, works on film, but again, no coaches were hired. While all of this is going on, nothing really at valley ranch.
The Texans sign their head coach, you know he is going to be looking at coaches. The jets even sign richie anderson, whom in time to my thinking will be a great offensive coach. Several other teams signed coaches along with the Saints signing Palmer.

What does Parcells do for hiring coaches, nothing, gosh, is he going to wait till all the good coaches are gone, then he hires from within the cowboys. Or he signs a young coach from some small college, so in regards we have to wait for that coach to learn the learning curve from college to pros?

I still say, go get Mike Tice or even Martz ex rams coach, proven coaches. They are both super offensive coaches, take for example Tice, his strength is offensive line and TE's. He could help our young offensive linemen, along with TE's. Or even Martz, he is a proven offensive minded coach, he can juice up our play calling, along with helping Parcells. Martz, is also an excellent judge of QB's. He could help us find a young QB in the draft if Henson fails at NFL Europe.

you see what YOU percieve to be good coaching getting away. Saunders may be a good coach but he is not the type of coach needed here. You dont just try and get all star coaches and triple their salary like the Skins it also has to fit into the sytem that is in place.

Our you could even have them come in Tice or Martz, as an consultant during offseason, draft, and preseason, help in those regards. Remember that Parcells had Tom Coughlin come in during one preseason to help out.

Ask questions all you want but there have been some ridiculous bashing on this forum. I mean from Parcells doesnt want good coaches cause he wants to feed his ego (yet supposedly without these coordinators we cant win so how is the ego fed). This thread where parcells is at Valley Ranch just screwing around doing nothing. Ask all the questions you want, but leave the mindless speculation and bashing to guys like mike Fisher

Well, the bashing in my mind was to be expected.

Most fans of any teams in the NFL would be upset after the season when you start 7-3 and finsih 2-4, plus miss the playoffs.

Its just a fan's mindset to be pissed when a team has a 2nd half collaspe.

BP has a year to turn it around, if he miss's the playoffs next year, do you think the bashing will even be worse ? Do you think it would be justified ?

Hopefully, we will be better and make the playoffs, so that won't be an issue.

People are venting after a frustrating season. Come May or June it will get better.

Thats my point, Parcells said that the Cowboys are one good offseason and draft, along with free agents for contending for the super bowl.

Thats my thinking too, if we get some super coaches like a Martz or Tice, to help us offensively, along with draft, free agents, trades like Glover for draft picks, then look out, super bowl here we come.

Look at all great super bowl teams, first you have to have the players, and they have to be hungry, second they have great coaches. Like Landry's era, he had 3 assistants go on to become head coaches. Jimmy Johnson had 3 to become head coaches. The packer now seattle coach, had 4 assistant coaches to become head coaches.

I totally agree with what Jerry Jones said, we do need an experienced offensive veteran lineman, another top DE-OLB, which we are loooking at in the Senior Bowl. Also, remember what Darren Woodson said, when he was with the Cowboys, and Woodson and Roy Williams went to pro bowl in 2003, He said, that it was all due to Willie Blade, at NT.

Now we are looking at Gabe Watson at NT. Along with Manny Lawson at OLB-DE, 3 other potential olbs in FSU's Kamerion Wimbley, Kennedy from Alabama best i remember.

But key thing i think is not to forget we need a free safety, which Jerry Jones said we would address, as well as Parcells said we need to fix. Also, Jerry Jones mentioned we would get a kicker.

YET, BIGGEST THING I THINK JERRY JONES SAID, WE NEED AN EXPLOSIVE PLAYER ON OFFENSE, A PLAY MAKER, not sure whom that is, but that is what we are lacking on offense, a player that teams have to fear, double team or triple team, just like teams had to scheme against Terrel Owens. Yes, Jerry Jones said we arent going to sign Owens, to big to destroy what you built,, so not sure whom that playmaker we need.

Like I said honest questioning or decent is all good, but when you have to rely on making things up, speculating, or misinterpreting to have some ammo for your bashing then you arent being honest just bashing to bash

it's been said many times on this board, by someone, that Rome wasn't built in a day

hell, and I know this has been beaten to death too, it took Mike Holmgrem SEVEN years to win a playoff game in Seattle

building a franchise takes time, and that's why the people coaching in the NFL, coach in the NFl, and there are people who merely watch it all happen

I think Parcells is at the Ranch playing Worlds of Warcraft. He's a tank with 1 handed mace that does 18 damage per secondand he's looking for a rougue for a quest, but he can't find one with enough XP.

so you want Parcells and Co to rush into things? personally, I want Parcells to be comfortable making a move after doing all his research, and determining the best candidate, that takes a little bit of time

No, but I am bothered that he isn't at Mobile and all he accomplished this week was an interview with someone he already knows. I think he could have multitasked this one. If he was already impressed with the current staff, he could have gone to Mobile.
