Or it was just an aberration - I've seen 'em before, or it could be as Bill said - just a young team that hasn't learned everything yet.
We did it against the Eagles, (though luckily we did win at the end) and against the Giants too.

I'm all for and just curious enough to let Mr Parcells finish his project.......Let's hope & pray he does'nt decide to take a hike before it's finished because as we all know that has been his track record.

I've always liked parcells as a coach, and definitely dont want to see him go now as it would leave us in a huge state of turmoil, he started this whole change from 4-3 to 3-4. he cant leave now after one season with this new project, that would be like quiting right in the middle of something, what a mess that would be for the next coach to sort out.

If we didnt decide to make the 3-4 switch, we could have drafted a 4-3 DE to play opposite Ellis and had a decent line, then a wr and LB, OLinemen in the other rounds.

But then who knew Al johnson wasnt going to improve, who knew Flo would get hurt and Rivera's play would drop off so much.

Still the change to 3-4 kept us from adequately adressing both sides of the ball IMO. And that was definitely a Parcells decision, he has basically cleaned house here in dallas over the past 3 years.

could we have improved faster if he added some quality players and worked with the system that was here, probably.....but with Parcells, its his way or the highway. so due to the fact that he cleaned house, brought in guys he liked and cut ones he didnt and scrapped the 4-3 for a 3-4, well its going to take more time now to see a finished product, i mean he really has taken on quite a project here.

He made that decision and we have to be patient and suffer through some things, maybe it will be a much better team in the end, maybe not.

But for him to go now in the middle of tearing this thing down and rebuilding would be unfair to the team and players, the whole organization is really in a state of flux right now.

My oppinion is that Parcells decided ok, im changing everything around and its going to take longer to build a competitive team but im doing it anyway, he took on this huge project, well he better see it through then.

I don't care what schemes they run on either side of the ball. Bring in good players and make the schemes work. I am glad he brought in Ware, Spears, Burnett and Canty. That is a good move and I complimented this past draft because I think these guys are good and you have to include Barber on the other side of the ball.

Why did it take so long to bring these guys in? That is my criticism. These were the kind of players that needed to be brought in last season. Why stick to lower players like Carson, Coleman, Ogbogu for so long?

He has done some good things and he has done some bad things. He has also made some decisions that I liked that just have not quite worked out. That happens. He deserves compliments when he does well and criticism him when he does not.

I don't play Madden football or fantasy league football. So my mind does not work in those ways. Developing the lines on both sides of the ball is the fastest way to improve any team. I haven't liked his approach at developing the offensive line. It takes time to fix a whole team, but I am surprised with his background and the type of offense that he likes to run that he hasn't done a better job of improving this o-line. Like I said, I am referring to center, right guard and right tackle. Only 3 positions. To have one position filled with a guy that is solid after 3 years is not having unrealistic expectations.

I don't buy that Parcells did not know what he had after the 2003 season. It was not that hard to know what areas needed improvent on both sides of the ball after the 2003 season. On defense it was obvious.

Look at who was let go after that season and you can see that Bill obviously knew that weaknesses of that 2003 defense. Ekuban, Edwards and Blade. The problem was that he didn't find anyone better. He and Jerry settled for less. Much less. They had some better options that off season and instead went with Wiley , Carson and a rotation of guys at corner back. None of those replacements were better than the 2003 guys they replaced and none are still here. He knew what he had and what he needed. He just did a poor job of fixing it at that time.

I credit him for bringing in Johnson for Galloway. This team needed a possesion receiver. I credit him for drafting Julius and finding Crayton later in the draft. Of course I will be frustrated with any decision that brings in Vinny Testaverde to QB the team. I never thought much of Vinny when in his prime, but going into his 17th season, he was not worth being a back up, much less a starter.

I am not saying fire Parcells, but he and Jerry have made some moves that make one scratch their heads.

And with all the changes everywhere else and the money spent (remember the cap issues from players not still playing), I suppose you could have done a better job? I just don't think that now is the time to start blaming Parcells. Most coaches do receive the benefit of 4 yrs to see what they can do. And that doesn't even really define a coach, because stuff happens (like cap problems, injuries, etc.) But like I said - I do feel the frustration.

yeah, why wait until after 2 full seasons to make the switch to 3-4, i think most coaches would have tried to install it right away if they wanted to have their system in plave and suffer through 2 years but by the 3rd year we would really be seeing something. By making that decision after trying to go with what we had for 2 years is like starting all over after 2 years.

Maybe Jerry had something to do with prolonging that, as parcells did say that jerry talked with him about giving some of the players that were here already a chance to develop.

Possibly parcells went along with that and after the regression last year said that's it, ive had it with some of these players, im taking over and changing things to my way.

In retrospect, the 3-4 switch should have been made a year earlier. We were fooled by 2003.

We weren't fooled by 2003. They just brought in guys like Marcellus Wiley. That is not improving the defense. You have to bring in players. They could have switched to the 3-4 as soon as Parcells got here, but if they stuck with Ekubans, Wileys, Ogbogus and Colemans, the scheme would not work.

Parcells would have gotten his *** handed to him by the fans and media if he tore apart a #1 ranked defense just to transition it to a 3-4.

You can definately argue that a) more talent then Wiley should have been added, or b) perhaps that D would not have been as bad if they knew Woodson wasn't coming back.

But ripping it up to turn it into a 3-4 like we did this year would have taken some serious brass ones. They were the sole reason we were in the playoffs the year before.

My biggest concern with all the doom and gloom is that some people do not look at it objectively,,, I was really pissed with the loss to the deadskins and upset but this tem overall is headed in the right direction..

Some positives,,, huge defensive additions ( via draft ) that will be only better next year.

Ware, Spears, Canty .. solid to excellent contributors
K.Burnett, Ratliff, Pepper Johnson.. increased roles

Biggest needs on the D.. inside & outside linebacker..

While I am not happy with the AGE on the offensive side of the ball..

We do have some younguns/// J.Jones, M.Barber, & P.Crayton,, that look to be solid to excellent contributors .. next year..

As BP has said,, you can't fix it all in one season ...Pick up a solid WR next year, and you must get a a FA QB.. Matt Shaub or trade for P. Rivers...

If Henson was legit,, he would be the number (2) on the depth chart by now,, get over it .. Jerry wasted money and a draft pick to get him...

I agree patience is the key.. just like the season has 2 more games to go and anything can happen all it takes is the Giants to beat the skins and a win in Carolina and were right back in the thick with one game to go.. Parcells would be the only coach I would want on my sideline in the NFL in charge of my team..
