3 100-yard games since 2010.

1 game with 2 or more TDs since 2010.

Since Week 1 Tony has a 45.26 QB Rating when targeting Miles and since returning from his hamstring injury he's pulled in a sad 2 of 8 targets for only 35 yards despite playing 104 snaps in that time.

Yes he was great in 2009. Yes his 2010 season was solid and unappreciated. But he really brings nothing in terms of effective play to the field, and what little he does bring is not worth offsetting Williams developing. The team did this with Dez in 2010, playing Roy over him and it was dumb then and it is dumb now. People won't want to say it, because Miles was once a very good player here and Roy Williams never was, but he's just as bad now as Roy was in his last season in Dallas.

He's the best route runner on the team and he made some plays last week.

The Cowboys need him because opposing defenses respect him more than Beasley or Williams. His presence should open up the passing game a bit more.

Give him a game or two and let's see if he can stay healthy while contributing.

Beasley and Williams are not ready for his role... and last week, he showed that he's healthly now.. I do think Miles will be gone shortly.

The team didn't do that with Dez. Dez missed most of training camp and preseason because of injury and therefore was behind in his development. There is a huge learning curve for rookie wide receivers and that only got bigger when Dez got injured. He justwasn't ready at the beginning of his first season and still Dallas tried to get him involved. Considering that Dez(72 times in 12 games, 6 per games) was targeted more than Williams(64 times in 15 games, 4.3 per game) it doesn't appear that the coaches were holding back Dez in any way.

He's the best route runner according to who,JJ??? hahah....... Miles can't hold Wittens jock when it comes to route running... JJ also said Dunbar out 1-2 weeks, Lee would play last game, and Matt Johnson was out savior at safety...Miles is the definition of what a JJ player is. An overpaid and soft guy who showed signs of greatness and was anointed because of potential!!!

He was talking about the best route runner of the wide receivers and obviously Witten is a tight end.

I meant at the WR position.

A healthy Miles Austin (while rare) helps the team.

This is what Jerry said,
"We’ve got to be able to pinpoint receivers, pinpoint the skills of those individuals and get the ball the them when we want to,” Jones said, via theDallas Morning News. “We’re working on that and we should be and we’ll get better there. But Miles Austin is a big factor. He’s our best route runner. When they’re doubling, as they have been, your best receivers in Witten and certainly the 88 (Dez Bryant), what’s called for is a great route runner, and I would call him a great route runner, Miles. And so that should be of help to us.”

Looks like JJ thinks of Witten as a WR..

I wasn't referring to what Jerry Jones said, but rather what was posted.

Austin's not out best anything. He hurts us more than he helps us because you cant depend on him, Ticks me off to say that, my entire clan has "smiles" jerseys...perhaps it's not his fault though, something is wrong with a team who has 6 starters out with hammy problems...

He said "receivers" not wide receivers.

This should be obvious.

And Witten doesn't run many routes. In. Out. Up the seam. the end.

Miles runs more routes and has to make more reads on the fly.

Either way this is a pointless argument.

Cole is good for the option route. That's it.

Williams at this point is a vertical threat only.

This team is better with Miles....by a comfortable margin.

Miles knows the the offense better than any other WR on the team. I would say he is most versatile WR out of the group. He can play inside and outside and knows how to read the defenses.

Only if he can catch the ball consistently.....

His cronic hamstring issues are one of the reasons they didn't make the playoffs 2 years ago. His timing with Romo was off. Up by 12, Austin and Romo missed that wide open pass with over 5 minutes to play in that 1st giants/cowboys game. They make that connection and they would have won the division. The 2nd game wouldn't have mattered.
