Parnell came in to start the second half. That usually means that the defenders were 2nd and 3rd string guys. He did have several plays against 2013 #3 overall pick Dion Jordon. I also saw several veterans and some previous higher round picks on the field.

I had posted a review of him against the Ravens and he had a good game despite not moving around as well as he has in the past. His knee was clearly better this game because he was moving around really well.

Parnell was often dominant, especially on running plays. Ryan Williams was racking up yards running behind Parnell. His pass protection was solid.

I just enjoy the way that he can physically push defenders around. He's not polished and will never be polished as long as he just a backup player. You can't really get polished as an OLineman without playing some number of real games. He had never played OL at any level prior to coming to the Cowboys because he was a college basketball player. In contrast Zack Martin played in 52 college games.

An amazing breakdown! Great work! I can see him push Free. I mean everyone else does.

Nice review, X...and I like the strongly positive review of Parnell.

I heard last week he wasn't going to make the team..... SMH

Not really an anti-Free guy but I think Parnell would make this line a bit more dynamic and he would not need the help Free gets each week.

Simply awesome X - wouldn't it be great if you got get paid to do this stuff!

Parnell is very good against straight line defenders, which is common among inexperienced athletes making the switch in position, you know where they are and how they are going do things. Where he gets into trouble is multiple move defenders and line stunts, he slow off the ball in many cases because he is sitting there on the line thinking or playing how he thinks the play will go and he loses a split second of reaction time due to this. Do I think he needs more playing time definitely but he has to show he can do the job against higher tier 2 ans and lower tier 1s.

Parnell woulda been destroyed by Wake if he faced him.

And Doug Free was destroyed on passing downs, so would it have been any worse?

Parnell CAN be very impressive at times in the run game

Jermey Parnell has the physical qualities I want in a RT.

He's still very raw, would've benefited greatly from going to NFL Europe if it was still around, he's also been forced back to LT during camp due to Darrion Weems' injury.

I'd like to see Parnell play more (some blocking TE and RT in any game that's decided).

Parnell, despite playing injured, is the 21st rated OT on Pro Football Focus this pre-season.

I can at least hope he has upside whereas I know what Free is.

Same here, I didn't get the game in my area yet and after hearing about Free's game I immediately wondered if they might give Parnell the start next week to see him with the first team O Line.

For all of the hyperbole used to describe Free's play against Wake, he doesn't experience the animated whiffs and assignment breakdowns that have underscored Parnells forays into pass protection against inferior competition.

pff ratings are literally one mans opinion. It's an informed opinion as every play was looked at but each score on each play is but the opinion of one man. Total them up and it amounts to the same thing.

That being said. Parnell performed well this past game and let's see if he can build on it.

Free would have given up 3 more sacks if Vaughan was playing QB instead of Romo.

A player can only be graded on the players he plays against. There's no magic way to know what would happen.

Thanks for your time consuming analysis.

I didn't get the game either just caught some video. I think Parnell gets a little lax at times and for that reason the coaching staff or even Romo don't want him in unless it's necessary. We usually don't see the high-powered defenses or the skilled pass rushers that we will see this season so it makes me wonder how much protection can we slide to Free this season.

I agree that JP is raw. Seems that the coaches are very high on him and are grooming him for RT and it appears to be his job next season.

Bluefin, you should post over here more often.

Is Parnell subject to a five year rule?

OK with me. NFL can be too impatient.
