I love this guy. You would think most professional athletes would share that sentiment, but as we all know sadly that's not the case. I'm just glad this guy is a Dallas Cowboy. Keep doing what you doing young man, I recall Michael Irvin telling Jimmy Johnson which players should stay and which players are just collecting a paycheck. Parsons is definitely the leader of this defense.
Got to love Parsons, the PA native. He'll make a great Pittsburgh Steeler playing for Mike Tomlin across from T.J. Watt in a couple years.

Micah Parsons is making a case for management to do whatever they have to do to keep him. If that means the 5th year option and two tags, so be it. I would hope he would want to stay with the Cowboys but he's a different cat. What other Cowboy has ever said he actually likes teams from PA?

I get the feeling that for Parsons, his team is the one he's on at the time. And that would make him the #1 commodity should he ever hit FA. And I do not see that as mercenary or self-serving, I just think that's the way he's wired.
I agree

And glad that you're still posting here. Did the cancer go into remission after all? I thought you were in the grave by now.

As far as Parsons, he's a PA kid born and raised and loyal to his state. I definitely see him requesting to go back to one of the PA teams once he does his 5 year sentence here. Hopefully he gets us a championship ring in the process before he inevitably asks to respect his wishes to not be tagged and instead to be either just let go in UFA or be tagged and traded to a team of his choice and hopefully it's the Steelers and not the Eagles.

I’m not sure if this has been posted or not. I looked and didn’t see it, so all apologies if I missed it.

Nice to see Parsons focusing on the problem stopping the run, even after the largest road victory in team history. He’s not letting the team forget that they still have to make sure to keep focusing on and working on stopping the run. He’s not letting the team get comfortable after just allowing 3 points to the Vikings.

Anyway, here is an excerpt and the link:

Based of what we've seen in his first two years, which includes two double-digit sacks seasons, a Rookie of the Year award, a Pro Bowl spot and first-team All-Pro selection, it's safe to assume Micah Parsons hasn't been picked on too much throughout his life.

Yet, when asked about the Cowboys' leaky run defense this year, Parsons compared it to a kid being bullied at school. And even though the Cowboys weren't exposed last week against the Vikings, Parsons knows the team will continue to be tested.

"I'm staying mad. Once the disrespect is out there, people are going to still try you," Parsons said on Tuesday. "It's almost like the bully trying to take your lunch money every day until you say 'no, that's enough.' They're going to keep taking your lunch money. I'm at that point, that's enough, you're not going to keep taking my lunch money."

Probably not the best analogy to use with his history. But I agree with him

One of the highlights of the year for Parsons, in my opinion, is him going off after the loss to Green Bay.

Make no mistake, he probably didn't say anything the coaches haven't already said. But he's a fellow teammate. He could arguably be one of the top defensive players in the league and he's telling you that you didn't give enough...while admitting he didn't play well enough either. It hits different when you get called out by one of the guys playing beside you.

It's one thing to be an amazing player. It's another to be respected in the locker room. When that play and that respect are funneled into a no-excuses-for-losing attitude, things change. You can't have guys playing the game, losing, and then just enjoying the rest of their day when you have someone like Parsons in the locker room. Aikman was that guy. Irvin was that guy. We had several in the 90's.

Parsons is my favorite pick in a long, long time.

No, it’s still here, just not moving as fast as they predicted and they cannot explain that. They gave me 6 months without their traditional treatment and I am approaching 14 going the homeopathic route. And GR, I will never be in the grave, I will be in the wind.

This. He reminds me of Lawrence Taylor with his intensity taking the defensive unit on his back the way he has. Others have to see his passion and thrive off of it. Just have to keep the foot on the neck each game.

The Cowboys lucked into him but I don't think they had any clue what they were really getting, he's just flat out one of the top 3 draft picks in team history.

Like Dallas, all of the NFL teams knew he had a lot of talent, but none of them knew what he was really going to be. Had they known, he would have gone way before Dallas ever had a chance to get him. That is the NFL draft. That is how it goes sometimes.

Dallas needed a CB and they loved Surtain and Horn (and both of them are really good too)… but they had Parsons as their highest rated defender. When their target(s) got picked right before Dallas went on the clock, the Cowboys smartly and rightfully reverted back to their board, getting an additional 3rd in the process. It was good drafting by Dallas.

All of the teams who had a shot at Micah are kicking themselves, much like Dallas (and other teams) did for passing on Randy Moss. Or the teams who passed on Lawrence Taylor. Or Emmitt Smith. Or Jerry Rice.

It was easy to see that he had gobs of talent. It was also pretty easy to see that he has a knack for getting to the QB. Heck, I could see it watching his play in college… I assume all of the pro scouts had noticed as well. What you couldn’t see though was how much he loves to play the game, how badly he hates to lose and his burning desire to be the best. That is what makes him truly special along with his physical gifts. It is what teams weren’t sure of. Him missing out on 2020 made teams question that. Him skipping that season is the real moment that Dallas got lucky… because if Parsons played that season, I don’t think he ever makes it to Dallas.

And before the draft ever took place Micah said he wanted to be in Dallas. He is playing where he wants to play. He simply answered a question and said that he has nothing against Philly. He noted that he grew up in that area. Somehow that got flipped to Micah wanting to play for the Eagles.

Micah, not DQ,makes the entire defense work. I am convinced the kid can win with any d coordinator. Not a knock on DQ,he's great, but its just my take. Micah makes any scheme work well. Elite players with his generational leadership is scarce.

Love the attitude.
Now learn to sit the 4th quarter when you are blowing out the other team.

Interesting for such a young player to take the leadership role. Usually, they're a little intimidated by the older players but when no one else is going to step forward, he has taken it upon himself and this kind of talk I do not mind at all. He has been the temper of the defense when they underperform and is rapidly becoming the heart and soul.

Before Emmitt, Roger, or Bob Lily? Randy White? Tony Dorsett? Who are the other 2?

Just jerkin' your chain CC. May be a little early to put him in that top 3 but I really can't argue against it.

Yeah, I think it was luck too.

FTR, I despise the pro football teams in Pa..

Agree but Parsons appears to imply this issue ( stopping the run ) is more about the attitude ( commitment ) of 11 guys than talent.

It’s more about talent than anything. If a DT is bullied back 3yds on every play no matter how hard he tries than it’s clearly a player, technique or both issue.

So you're basically saying that he has no loyalty. But you mean that in the best possible way.

Pointy, I consider Lilly and Staubach to be 1 and 2. Parsons has made a debut and soph year unlike any other I can recall and it's all on him.

Yes and that is exactly how I would be.

All of this talk about "I would take less money to play for this team or take less so they could pay others" is a bunch of malarky.

The NFL is nothing more than a cash grab disguised as a sport.

Prescott and Elliott caught heat for going for the gold, and Parsons will too if they are able to get a long-term deal done, but if you are a star, why would you not take the owner to the wall on money? He blinks every time. Prescott was a Cowboys fan and wanted this job more than any other but he would have walked to another team if his contract had not been met.

99% of professional athletes are hired guns and that's fine, it's the way it is set up and they are the attraction.
