1. The run game got better when Zeke was no longer the primary/ starting back.
2. The run game also got better when Martin was out of the line up.

What I don't know is if they changed blocking schemes to help the younger players succeed or things just took a long time to get going or what.

I think things could have taken a much shorter time to develop if someone was allowed to properly evaluate the talent and put the best players on the field not the ones that Jerry wanted on the field

I think the main problem with the FO's refusal to deal with getting Henry was their fear of parting with what it might have cost them to do so. Jerry and Stephen are both unduly protective of their money -- so much so, that the fear of what the cost might be was more than they dared to consider. Their refusal to consider spending for more than tier 3 vet free agents reveals a worship of the almighty dollar. It's a compulsive weakness, imho.

There was clearly some dysfunction. Like many older coaches Mike tends to lean towards veterans like Zack even though they were under performing due to injury. But Zeke seemed more like a directive from Jerry.
