Parsons not Top 5?

Disagree. I just think there aren’t that many great linebackers who are on that level.

The old thumping pure run stoppers are dead and gone. But somebody with Parsons athletic ability? You can ask them to do anything.

Athletic ability doesn't mean a player can play and succeed at multiple spots. Bruce Carter was the best athlete on the entire team and he failed to earn a second contract, matter of fact out of the league shortly there after. Jaylon has elite athletic traits, even after his injury and is considered an average at best starter. Simmons drafted by Arizona was considered such a can't miss athletic prospect, but yet doesn't even start for them.

I'm not trying to say Parsons is going to be a bust in anyway, just saying taking him that high is extremely risky. Many believe we could be an elite 3 down player, but his other skills such as in coverage and as a rusher are more of a projection on the next level. Same thing was said about Jaylon before his injury, that makes people nervous.

But Parsons is a better prospect than all of them because of his instincts. For some reason teams love to overdraft + athletes at the LB spot even if their eyes / instincts are a red flag.

Parsons is a bigger version of Jaylon coming out of college with + instincts.

Instincts are the most important trait for that position as well as Safety. One false step, takes you out of the play. If we are in position to draft him, we are going to see many heated debates about drafting that position so high, kindly of like Zeke a few seasons ago, who in my opinion, has lived up to his draft slot.

Parsons has awesome instincts and has the production to match his elite athleticism though.

That’s what you want with high first round picks. College players who have both elite traits and elite production.

any player can bust. Even the best college players.

all I’m saying is. Parsons is worth a pick that high based on how good of a prospect
He is.

let’s stop comparing Jaylon to Parsons. Jaylon suffered a catastrophic injury. Their situations aren’t identical.

I don’t know why teams don’t get this. This is why Lee in his prime looked like a 4.4 player - elite instincts.

As you know the Cowboy Front Office always targets elite athletes, but not football players.

Dude is a one man wrecking crew. Reminds me of the way Roy Williams played at OU when he could literally take over a game.
