Let me ask you, has Parsons shown you enough THIS SEASON to make you believe he is still all-world? Maybe he will take his game to another level and show that he is the heart and soul of the defense. But I have serious doubts and like others in this thread would rather spend the money elsewhere.
He's going full speed getting a lot of pressures you know they count analytics now with the pressures he's still putting pressure he just isn't getting to the quarterback and that happens sometimes those little gaps that people call disappearing doesn't mean he stopped trying I've watched these games the man was flying and pushing and giving his effort trying to do what he could do they pay so much attention to him somebody else should be stacking sacks but they weren't and they're not so that's why it looks different..

He was still in the top five in quarterback pressures before he got hurt that's what he's supposed to do now getting home would be much nicer but sometimes you're paying so much attention to where they run away from you or they run the ball right at you trying to wear you down and our defensive coordinator and other players don't make up for it you can't blame the player use your eyes I'm watching give a lot of effort in the New York game he got hurt in I believe I mean literally was all over the field pushing the pocket driving 2 dudes back in towards the quarterback just because he didn't get to the quarterback doesn't mean he's no longer elite he is an elite pass rusher and maybe Mike Zimmer as he gets to know him will better utilize him in this defense...

By the way talent doesn't disappear the man is the same guy he just isn't getting the sack totals and I get it we all watch that we all hope for that we all want that but I'm watching the same player make the same amount of effort it's kinda hard to go 120% for 60 snaps and not look just gassed at the end of the game and it to fans looks like he's quitting and pouting and no the dude is exhausted

..right now, Overshown gets the pick. Parsons has fallen off a bit.

I think all the off season accolades and recognition had dummed his situation.

Throw in the podcast. Parsons has become a sideshow of kicks, unfortunately.

Just ignore differences in position, responsibilities and forget that the Cowboys are likely to resign both players at some point. Just hypothetically, if you had to choose one or the other, who would you pick? To me it's a no-brainer. I'm picking Overshown.
I say trade them both for TJ Watt...lol

The correct answer is Parsons.

That being said the defense has 11 players on the field at a time. So you need a bunch of good players.

I'm pretty sure if Overshown has three ALL-Pro seasons under his belt and market value near the top of the salary scale, a bunch of these responses would be different. We as fans are always attracted to players on rookie contracts. Let's put it another way.......would your answer be the same if Overshown was looking for $30-35M deal and Parsons was just in his 2nd year?

This is make take........Overshown has proven nothing with only 4 games under his belt and I love the kid. But you are asking us to choose between a player with 4 games vs one with over 50 games playing at ALL-Pro level.

Most fans don't have an issue paying a defender 40 million. If we had Aaron Donald nobody would complain about his future payment.

there's no way i'm giving parsons 40 million...his position top 5 is what? 27? maybe 30? see when you add that into this conversation if that where this is heading in 30 to $40 million i would trade him. so the FT is typically average of top 5 correct? i looked it up and bosa makes 34but TJ 28mil.. i'm just not giving parsons more than 30 million period...

The 2024 franchise tag for a defensive end in the NFL is $21,324,000.

The franchise tag is a way for teams to retain players who are about to become free agents. The value of the tag depends on the player's position and the type of tag. For example, the non-exclusive tag is based on the average of the top five salaries at the player's position over the previous five years. The exclusive franchise tag is based on the average of the top five salaries at the player's position for the current year.

Here are the franchise tag values for other positions in 2024:
  • Quarterback: $38,301,000
  • Wide receiver: $21,816,000
  • Tight end: $12,693,000
  • Running back: $11,951,000
  • Offensive lineman: $20,985,000
  • Defensive tackle: $22,102,000
  • Linebacker: $24,007,000
  • Cornerback: $19,802,000
  • Safety: $17,123,000
  • Kicker/Punter: $5,984,000

Only an absolute moron, who is all in his feelings about a podcast, would want to get rid of Micah Parsons.

Get a coach in here who knows how to use him instead of 70 year old retreads.

Jerry is failing the players ....... not visa versa.

Oh really? So when Parsons disappears against better teams, that doesn't concern you?
No that doesn't concern me at all. The one concern I have with Parsons is that he is up and down in the run game and really not physically equipped to play DE as often and the way Zimmer has asked him to so far this year.

TJ Watt has 1 sack in 3 playoff games....Myles Garrett has 1 sack in 3 playoff games. Nick Bosa has great numbers overall, but has just 2 sacks in his last 6 playoff games. Typically when Micah disappears it's because teams are running the football which is the best way to neutralize all these elite pass rushers.

and if you arent getting that? or get it at the tail end of his career? Do you think his value goes up?

We are stuck with retreads, we had a young guy once, hes gone. We dont invest in youth, old men are the future, canes, wheelchairs, and dinner by 4 pm, thats our jam.

So Zimmer is the reason why micah can't beat a tackle 1 on 1? Or are you one of the people pretending he doesn't get 1 on 1s?
