Makes me laugh. Skins only got a 6th for Ramsey. I have frequently visited ExtremeSkins and they go and on about they should get 3rd or 4th for him. They probably ticked off but some would say they lucky still get anything this late in game. Actually suspect they didn't have choice cause they couldn't keep him; they've already got 3 and besides Gibbs promised Ramsey last year if he behaved (re Brunell starting) they trade him this year.

BTW: I think I read Skins have 2 6th round picks. Now that they have 3, they will probably try trading into late 4th round.

Well, a 6th in 2006 for a first in 2002, that's what I call a great return on an investment.

The Skins had to get rid of him. Guess that was the best they could get.

LOL... a former first rounder, and they get a sixth for him in return... that's Trader Danny for ya...

What I find amusing is how many Skins fans are dead morally convinced that Jason Campbell is their quarterback of the future, since after all, he's a first round pick!! I try telling them that the were talkin' the same way about Patrick Ramsey a couple-three years back, and he was a late first round pick too... I try pointing out that them signing Todd Collins is a pretty sure indicator they believe that after a year in the league, Campbell still isn't ready to even be a backup... even Ramsey was making better progress than that...

As for Patrick himself, he stayed at my hotel back before the start of the season... he's an investor in restaurant chain called Glory Days, which is a sports-themed restaurant, and they opened one right across the parking lot from us... he was in for the grand opening... he was pretty quiet (not standoffish, just quiet, seemed like a decent guy), but I was shocked to find out he's a smoker... at least, he specified he wanted a smoking room, indicated it was important...

Patrick Ramsey was one of the most overrated players, in the minds of many fans, (mostly Skins' fans), in recent memory.

I know, I know, he's tough, etc. etc. etc. etc.

This trade verifies what the rest of the league thinks about him.

I agree. If Patrick was worth a damn, Gibbs would have started the younger QB with the greater potential. I guess Mangini thinks he knows more about QBs than Gibbs.

Todd Collins is around for several reasons:

1. Every team needs a third QB (ask Philly)

2. He's experienced and can aid in teaching Saunders' system to Brunell & Campbell.

3. He's cheap.

By no stretch of the imagination does any NFL fan or Collins himself think he'll ever see the field in a regular season game if either Brunell or Campbell is healthy.

By this remark, you'd almost think that Gibbs drafted him and is eating the difference in the return.

With the flood of QBs on the market this year, the Skins were not in a good position to unload Patrick. They are lucky to have gotten a 6th in my opinion. The Jets knew the Skins would never keep 4 QBs on the roster. It almost feels like professional courtesy that they got anything for him.

That's what people said in 2003 before the season. Randy Mueller also said that Hutch would beat him out. Hutch couldn't even beat out Kyle Orton for Pete;s sake. We are also 15-17 without him, despite upgrades on offense and defense. Some progress.:stop:

Right on target. Good planning to bring in a guy who already knows the system, especially since Campbell is learning his second offense in as many years. This will ease the transition from Brunell to Campbell. This is why I like Gibbs and his approach to team building.

I also like your receivers. Yes, you paid a lot for them, but they're all young and proven players. The nucleus of your team(Campbell,Moss,Randel-El,B.Lloyd,Cooley,Portis are all in their mid twenties). All come from big schools with proven track records of success.

As for your draft picks being sparse, you don't need a qb or running back or receivers or much in the secondary. This is a deep draft for D-linemen and O-linemen and linebackers, so you can use your remaining picks to complete your roster this year, especially since you snookered the Jets into giving you a pick for Ramsey, who I think is worthless.

What's up with all these "nice" posts today.....lol.....

I agree.....I think a 6th is a bit low but if that's the best offer we did good enough.......

They almost did; it was a 6th rounder and Abraham's jock, which Snyder promptly took possession of and went into his office and closed the door.

Yeah, I know, I'm a bad boy.

So much for the great Patrick Ramsey. It also tells you that they're high on Campbell, who some here has said is years away from starting.
Well, since he most likely won't be starting this year barring injury, wouldn't that make those people correct. He was years away from starting when he was drafted.

Ouch for the Skins.

Them and thier fans were certainly expecting a lot better than a 6th.

When all is said and done, theyll basically end up with nothing when that pick doesnt make the team.

Pretty accurate assessment. I bet they wish they had traded him last year before the deadline when the Jets were starved and offering more. Hindsight is 20/20 vision.

As a Cowboy fan, this is a pretty good way for this deal to go down. A 6th rounder isnt squat so it wont help the skins make up for their lack of a 1st rounder this year.

The 130 million for proven stars will...

Joe Gibbs made a promise to Patrick Ramsey during the season that he would trade him. However, the flooded market for QB's gave the Jets a buyers market and although the Commanders received a 6th rounder for him, he's probably worth a 4th rounder. So yes, the Jets got the better end of the deal.

BTW, I want to congratulate you on the signing of T.O. This should make for some interesting games.

I know RedskinsNation is definitly happy we will be able to smack T.O. around twice a year for as long as he is a Cowboy.
