Passing scheme - more Dak friendly in 2nd half

seemed like in 2nd half the team used Dak's mobility a lot more. Hopefully Garrett and Linehan can pry themselves away with notion to have Dak drop back 5 or 7 and hit bombs.

Dak doesn't have Tony's skill set yet for the deep ball. When he's asked to just drop straight back 7 and go 20+ yards seems like accuracy is big problem

However when he rolls out he's more comfortable like the deep ball to Butler.

Offense needs to get rid of majority of Romos passing schemes and go a bit more to what Dak is comfortable with even if it is College-esque which Garrett and Linehan might think is beneath them.

I agree and have been saying this in other threads. I think it will come but until then this looks to be most effective. I do want him to improve in the pocket though because that's how the best qbs seem to do it for the longest period of time.

I wouldn't give the coaches credit for Dak's legs. The TD pass to Butler was all Dak. Pressure forced him to roll out of the pocket and Butler improvised.

Romo used to do the same. Much better out of the pocket, and it wasn't by design, but rather poor OL play.

I thought Dak run into endzone showed some leadership. Dak will learn this year you have to make difficult throws to keep drives alive. 45 plays in this game is really bad. But they won and we are seeing glimpses of Dak & Cowboys adjusting to brutal schedule.

I thought Dak TD run was one of the biggest plays of the game. You have to use what gifts the player has to put him in a position to be successful. Dak has wheels and I heard weighs 240. Not a lot of DBs will be able to deny him there.

"New Scheme" because 2nd half execution was better / it worked.

No really. I'm pretty sure they implemented an entire new offense at halftime. Who needs training camp?

I think I have a better grasp on this team and Dak Prescott than anybody else in the world.

Daks best throws from last yr in the preseason to now, have been passes to Butler and Williams. Butler only ran three plays!? The coaches not know this?

I said it here:https://cowboyszone.com/threads/esp...on-to-heat-up-fast.385953/page-2#post-7529462

Dez Bryant to Dak is garbage

Butler, Williams and Brown are the guys he needs.

Remember when Romo got more out of that wr from the 2011 season? Butler could be that for Dak.

Butler and Williams can run... the other guy can't. I'm sorry

There was no new scheme. It was mostly Dak improvising. His rushing TD, big pass on the run to TWill and TD to Butler was Dak doing his own thing. The biggest problem with our crappy offense is that it doesn't help the receivers get open. When Dak moves around, it makes the DBs and LBs harder to defend the receivers because of the threat of Dak running for big gains. Dak was the difference maker tonight. Not anything the coaches did to the scheme.

I'm ready for the Dak scheme that includes throwing the ball downfield on 3rd and long instead of that underneath crap.

Dez, TWill, The Bease, Butler.....someone has to be available to sling it to.

I picked the Cowboys to go 14-2, but I always said the weakest unit on the team is its pass catchers

And some of it is the structure of the unit

1. They were vastly overrated last season. Experts overhyped them to discredit Dak's success

Structurally flawed: Dak's best fits are the teams 4th option(Williams) and the teams 4th wideout(Butler). You know how hard it is to produce when you're working with scraps?(Butler and Williams) Daks best weapons get limited opportunities. It's like playing with Michael Jordan. People foolishly think that makes it easier. No. You have to be very efficient with limited opportunities. If Butler and Williams were the primary options I believe the results would be better. Carmelo Anthony is about to face the same situation in OKC. I doubt if he averages over 16 a game. Opportunities won't be there! Clay Thompson went through it last season. That guy is a 25+ ppg scorer if Durant didn't take away some of his opportunities.

That's why they might win 77 games this year. NBA is in trouble. Won't be pretty win the finals is GS: 77 Bos: 38 @ the half in everygame

It should be 1a. Williams, 1b. Butler, 3rd. Beasley

That's not gonna happen barring a Dez injury

Maybe the coaches will realize this and at least have Beasley sacrifice some of his snaps.

Why do Butler Williams and Brown get single coverage?

Oh.

Seems like we're back to the old Romo offense where completed passes of any significance are the result of the QB scrambling to help WR get open. That was certainly the case tonight.

Modern day Babe Ruth. I call my shots before hand!

No I just hate reactors who go overboard after the fact. Like the situation with the little girl at the baseball game. No problem for decades, now we must have nets. I put that there just to show I wasnt reacting(over) to tonight's positive performance from Butler.

I think us playing three murderous defenses in a row is making our team look worse than it really is.

I wonder if Dak's accuracy issues in the pocket stems from overthinking throwing mechanics. I know he was working on improving in the offseason so it would make sense if he was focusing to much on it during the play. When he is on the run, he doesn't have time to think and just reacts.

I remember in my golfing days, I played so much better when I didn't think about all of the things I was trying to correct right before my swing.
