I wonder how many here know that on top of being a RB Dan Reeves was also the 3rd team QB in Dallas, or that he was actually a player/coach for the Cowboys at one point?

Or, that he was a master of the half-back option pass. He threw a 50 yd td to Lance Rentzel in the Ice Bowl to give Dallas a fourth quarter lead.

Walls will have a tough road to get in. His first five years, he made four Pro Bowls and was a 1st team All-Pro once. His final eight years he didn't receive any post-season awards. To most voters, he will appear to have peaked early and just have a good career afterward. There are only 15 pure corners in the HoF, and only six of them have played the majority of their games in the 16-game era. Those six are as follows:

Deion Sanders 8x's PB, 6 AP, all-1990's team (GOAT CB!!!)
Charles Woodson 9x's PB, 3 AP, all-2000's team
Ty Law 5x's PB, 2 AP, all-2000's team
Mike Haynes 9x's PB, 2 AP, all-1980's team
Champ Bailey 12x's PB, 3 AP, all-2000's team
Darrell Green 7x's PB, 1 AP, all-1990's team

Add Mel Blount if you wish (1970-1983) 5x's PB, 2 AP, all-1980's team

Now, Everson Walls 4x's PB, 1 AP

Gees, look at who didn't get in yet. Walls was very good. But look at what he will be measured against. If he doesn't make it in, it won't be because of any anti-Cowboy bias; it will be because he didn't receive the accolades the people I listed did. Plus, he received no honors his last eight years in the league. Put away the blue-colored glasses mates. He may eventually get in.

If Walls doesn't make it, we will just add his name to the list of former Cowboy greats who continue to get snubbed.

It's disgraceful.

I think this is what makes the HOF so special. Not everyone gets in.

And just like we saw with Howley, Drew a few years ago and others in recent years inducted like Wright and Hayes , it’s never over. You can even be voted in posthumously.

The window of opportunity decades later for these senior players provides for those possibly overlooked.

Walls isn’t even in ROH. If he isn’t considered one of the greatest ever in Cowboys history how can we expect the HOF?

There’s only one Cowboy in HOF not in ROH. And we know why Jimmy isn’t.

Everson Walls was a flat out play maker!!! He definitely should be in the Hall of Fame. He also won a Superbowl with the Giants.

Of course he got beat a time or two, but he made WAY more big plays than mistakes. He baited QB’s into bad throws all the time. Diggs reminds me of Everson, but he needs to clean up his game just a bit.

In the dreaded catch game, Everson played a hell of a game. He had 2 interceptions of the original goat, Joe Montana( I hate the Whiners but Montana was the best in his day. Whiners were so stupid to go with Steve Young over him).

I look at Young to Montana Sort of like I look Magic's Lakers to Lebron's Lakers . Yeah they both won but everybody with a brain knew and know Magic's Lakers would kill Lebron's Lakers

I skimmed over the OP. Ed Reed was a far greater player than Everson Walls. He was a first ballot Hall of Famer for a reason. Reed had a lot of game changing INT’s. He’s seventh all time in INTs.
