According to DC.com Pat McQuistan might be challenging Kyle Kosier for the starting left tackle position....

I like the idea of this because of McQuistan size and abilities. Would yall as fans like to see this and if so who do you think is going to win that position over?

If McQuistan could beat him out that would be superb. Kosier can back up almost all the positions on the line.

If they keep bouncing him from LT to LG to C, he won't be able to mount a concerted enough effort to take anyone's job.

It is nice to be a jack of all trades. But eventually, he needs to master one.

How the heck is McQuistan challenging any of starters THIS early? Arguably, Kosier was our best offensive lineman last season. His abilities should translate well into this season. Does DC.com have any 'news' about Spencer challenging Ellis? Now, THAT would be exciting!

Sorry. Kosier was not the best O lineman last year. Gurode was. I think it is a good arguement that he was second, though.

A close second, perhaps?

There was also a column talking about McQ starting to learn to be a center as well. Here is my take: McQ learns ALL FIVE positions on the line and becomes our indspensible backup. Then one of our guys from this years draft- marten or Free- becomes the other guy; that way we only have to carry 2 non starting players on the active roster for each game at O line. If either Free or Marten show the ability to play either guard or tackle, we are in great shape. Especially if one of them becomes good enough to take the Hotels spot.

Gurode was the 3rd best lineman at most on the team in '06. But I wouldn't even rate him that high. I'd say 4th best.

I could see some points to Kosier being a close second- some of the season.

Rivera was not better. Colombo was close but not as good. The Hotel at his best last season was maybe number one, but only for a few games. He had several games, especially early on when he was not even as good as Rivera. Overall last season Gurode was our best O lineman.

I will say that Kosier was probably our most CONSISTENT lineman last year.

Are you ignorant?

It is very easy to challenge for an offensive line job in no-contact drills.;)

I watched all the games as well. And I say Gurode overall was our best O lineman. Kosier was second, by the end of the season the Hotel was playing very well and might have been our best guy. Colombo was up and down- depending on who he was up against- to be expected from someone with all that rust and not that much experience.

He's just saying that to get a rise.

I fail to see how Gurode, who was a Pro Bowler and per our coaches one of the best, was worse than all but one of our offensive line starters.

thats pretty much what im saying. i realize that he wasnt as good in space as say kosier but he was decent and he would absolutely destroy tackles at the point of attack.
