I seem to remember Crayton being a Restricted FA. Which means all we have to do is sign him to a contract tender, and if he leaves us the team that signs him will have to comp us with a pick. So my question is this Patrick Crayton or a 2/3rd round pick? what would you rather have?

id rather have a 2nd than PC, but not a 3rd.

i'd have a 2 or 3rd. some team is going to offer more money then what dallas will be willing to give him IMO. besides a guy like meacham, or gonzalez or rice rookie deal will be more then half less per yr then what crayton would make. and the upside is so much better. i think right now crayton is as good as he'll get. while these other guys have so much more upside

I don't know what the Boys are gonna do w/ Crayton and McBriar, but Crayton is a freakin stud on Madden.
I thought you were going to say something interesting until I saw the word "Madden" in there.

I'll take Crayton over any pick. The guy could and will start whenever Glenn or TO get hurt, and it a playmaker when the ball gets into his hands. 30 catches as a third WR when you have TO, Glenn & Witten ahead of you is pretty stout.

That makes more sense than people saying, "I just made this trade on Madden.....get it done Jerry!"

That one baffles me.
That IS funny...

Why, just why, do some posters always try and evaluate NFL players with some damn toy game called Madden!

I don't get it! That is so stupid...get into the REAL world!

Sheesh....

It's also where you get the INSANE trades that people come up with on here.

Yeah, god forbid anyone say the name Madden on here. I was just saying he's a good player on Madden, not that I base my evaluation of him on the game. It wouldn't hurt for everyone to go ahead and get that stick out, geez.

Ok, here's the reason. With the way the nfl keeps passing so many no contact rules, the only way to play football in the furture will be through madden 2015. So, when that time comes, nfl football will be played by young, old, and crippled alike! So, this comparison and evaluation routine by madden players is actually going to come in handy and be very important!! Get ready to play nfl football 2015!!! Boys, it's on the way.

You guys totally blow the Madden thing out of the water, guaranteed, every time. Nobody even said anything about signing a free agent because he was good on Madden - they just said on Madden, he's a beast - in which he is. Nobody said re-sign him because he's good on Madden - because quite frankly, they can do that themselves. They don't need the Cowboys to do that. You guys blow this Madden thing out of proportion EVERY single time. It's a hobby, like fishing, racing, or whatever most of us are into.

Like those who brought up Crayton's Madden rating were not offering it as a reason why Patrick is good... of course they were insinuating that the Boys should keep him because he's so good on Madden...

It's entirely cool if anybody is into Madden's game, it seems to be the one most football fans like the best... my nephew is NUTS about it... me, I've never played it, but I'm not into video games at all... but anybody who takes the Madden ratings and tries to bring them into a SERIOUS football discussion is being silly... trust me when I say "silly" is the most diplomatic way of putting it I could find...

If you guys want to start threads about the Madden game, I'm sure there are appropriate forums in here to do so... but you have to know that anytime anybody brings up a player's Madden rating in a SERIOUS thread about football, I giggle, and make a mental note not to take that poster too seriously any more...

It ain't like it makes me MAD, mind you, which is why I've never commented on this before... I just find it kinda stupid, in a harmless way...

I'd rather have Crayton... he's a semi-proven complementary type WR... you seem to forget that the second round gave us Tony Dixon, Jacob Rogers, etc., etc., ad nauseum...

And what exactly was your POINT in bringing up Crayton's Madden rating in the context of this dialogue, hoss??

If you were just pointing out he's good on Madden, that's not exactly relevant to the topic at hand, is it?? Clearly, you were suggesting that because he's a "stud" in Madden, the Boys should keep him around...

Now, I think the Boys should keep him around too, but you can bet it ain't because of what John Madden's GAME says... if you want just one good reason why that's so, just know that my nephew recently completed a season at the next to highest level (he just got the game, and is still learning it, plans on moving up to the highest level soon), and as a Skins fan, that was his team... he had them going undefeated, and winning the Super Bowl... he had players putting up numbers that would come close to doubling the current NFL records...

Yeah, that game's REAL realistic... just hearing him talk about all the things he's done on that game was all I needed to know it's not for me... ROTFLMAO...

I really think we need to keep Crayton in the fold. Our other two starters are getting a little long in the tooth and Crayton has earned another contract. He's been there when we counted on him. I think it would be a shame to let him walk.

Plus he has proven to be able to beat Sean Taylor like a rented mule.

Gotta like that in a thrid WR! :D

They won't just let him walk, he'll be tendered something. Either the 1.3 to get a 2nd round compensation(which I expect) or the lower amount that will have the 7th round.

We all know that Patrick Crayton played a very important role in the Cowboys offense this season and would probably command a high salary for a 3rd receiver. I mean last season he started seven of the 16 games he played in and had 36 catches (28 for first down) 516 yards and 4 tds. He can be a solid 2nd receiver given the opportunity.

Free Agency starts on Friday and the Cowboys have yet to offer him a tender contract and I know the Cowboys are not going to let him go for nothing. Why havent we heard anything on Crayton or Matt Mc Briar the punter and a tender. I thought I read that they made Matt a tender offer but I havent been able to confirm it.

Your Thoughts.

I hope we can get the best hands on the team resigned. I like Crayton and I do consider him an important part of the offense. I also do not buy into the mindset that he is nothing more than a #3 WR I think he is capable of more. I know many focus on his so called lack of speed but this is not track and field and how a WR uses what speed he has is more important than some 40 time and Crayton knows how to use his speed coming out of breaks to separate from the defender.

Madden and Fantasy Football have really twisted a generations perspective of the NFL.
