Lets all pray Miles Austin gets healthy so he can be our #2 deep threat and move Crayton to the slot. Imagine how scary our O would be, assuming Austin is the real deal.

man were his catches pretty, he needs to get a gameball, no trap catches just hand to hand tip to tip beautiful...

I thought his best play was the seal block he layed and took out 2 defenders for Barber to get a key 1st down and then some

I agree...never gets any credit, but you watch the games and there he is getting open and making YAC...

You cant have allpros at every position...ultimately every championship team needs to have a number of Patrick Crayton's on it

I always said where would Dallas had been a few times with out Kelvin Martin to be a solid 4th cog in the passing wheel out of the slot when Dallas won in the 90's

Everyone knows I've been driving the Austin bandwagon since last year when others talked down at me for it, but watching Crayton today, I know he's not very fast but the guy gets opened, and he catches everything, he should remain our number 2.

And it's not like Austin won't get on the field, out of every 4 downs, we run a 3 WR set atleast 2 of them, and sometimes we run it every down.

Fickle bunch.

some yes. i just call as i see it. crayton had a decent day but in the end a good #2 should be able to take over the #1 if the #1 were to go down. crayton just isnt that. im not taking anything away from his day but im not ready to crown him either off one performance. its been proven that crayton just eats up nickel backs and is average against starting corners. in other words, he is a ok #2, but very very good #3.

His performance today was what it always has been for anybody who's either fair-minded or who has ever bothered to watch him play.

You're probably referencing KC Joyner's color coding system when you talk about Crayton's performance v. CBs. If that's what you're alluding to, you might want to go back and re-read what the analysis actually said, because you're misrepresenting it badly.

I'm just glad his hands were able to get so much better in just one offseason. It's remarkable, really.

I do think it was funny that he did exactly as well as I thought he would. I mean, it's still early, but he sure has put the naysayers to rest for the time being. He got way too much flack last year, and has proven my "Crayton is good enough" theory to be correct so far. I just hope he keeps it up.

How come he 'makes a better 3rd wr than a second?' He had more catces and yards than TO. That seems to be contributing pretty well as a second to me (especially since he really is a 3rd with Witten out there).

That one he caught that was almost tipped for really great. His vision had to have been obstructed on that play.

that was a play made by crayton, but it was a play Romo got away with. Against a better secondary...could very well have been a Pik-6

Really similar to his actual int. in the endzone........Tony still has some spur of the moment impromptu decisions floating around

but he gets away with vast majority of them

Your living in a dream land.

Not every team has a great 1 and 2. Sorry. But Crayton is more than fine as the #2 so get over it.

Hes one of the better #2 guys in the league.

Playoff performance still on Patrick Crayton's mind

Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips

The Cowboys' Pro Bowl skill players performed like guys who will be headed back to Hawaii.

Tony Romo threw for 320 yards while completing 75 percent of his passes. Marion Barber rushed for 80 yards and two TDs on 16 carries. Terrell Owens had five catches for 87 yards and a TD (and thought he should have been credited for another score). Jason Witten caught six balls for 96 yards.

But Patrick Crayton's performance was pretty darn good, too. The goat of the playoff loss to the Giants caught six passes for 82 yards, including one spectacular catch on a ball behind him when he was tightly covered.

Crayton thought about his crucial drop against the Giants every time he caught passes during the off-season. It still weighs heavily on his mind.

"It doesn't wash it away," Crayton said of starting a new season with a good game. "It's a start, but it's still there."

Crayton is serious

I was very pleased with the play of Crayton and it was also great to see Stanback involved in the passing game as well.
